The youth celebrated the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day on May 19th with enthusiasm through special events organized by Canik Municipality in the district. Canik Mayor İbrahim Sandıkçı, who came together with the youth and the district residents during the celebratory events, congratulated them on the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. As part of the activities organized by Canik Municipality for the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, Mayor İbrahim Sandıkçı, along with the youth, participated in a nature walk during the Youth March held in the district. Mayor İbrahim Sandıkçı, who joined the festive spirit of the youth, took a tour around the district on an open-top bus and celebrated the holiday with the citizens. Mayor İbrahim Sandıkçı, who shared the holiday joy with the youth and children, presented them with gifts, allowing them to fully enjoy the holiday.
Festive Joy Experienced in Every Corner of Canik
With the special events organized by Canik Municipality in the district, the residents celebrated the 104th anniversary of the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day with excitement and joy in every corner of Canik. As part of the organized events in the district, Mayor İbrahim Sandıkçı took a tour around the district on an open-top bus along with the youth and national athletes. Mayor İbrahim Sandıkçı and the youth visited all the neighborhoods of Canik by bus, sharing the festive joy with the citizens. Mayor İbrahim Sandıkçı presented holiday gifts to the youth and children he met in the neighborhoods. The heroes of the War of Independence were respectfully remembered through the activities organized by Canik Municipality for the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day.
Meaningful March by the Youth
As part of the events for the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day organized by Canik Municipality and Canik District National Education Directorate, a “Youth March” was organized in the district. Mayor İbrahim Sandıkçı, together with the students, completed an 8.5-kilometer walking route during the Youth March. Carrying Turkish flags in their hands, the youth completed the walking route while singing marches, which started from the Söbüce location and ended at the Gültepe paragliding field. Canik Mayor İbrahim Sandıkçı, Canik District National Education Director Zahit Köseoğlu, Emrah Aksu, President of Bir Adım Doğa ve Yaşam Derneği (One Step Nature and Life Association), Samsun Provincial Directorate of National Education Search and Rescue Team (AKUB), national athletes, teachers, students, and citizens participated in the Youth March held in Canik. After the march, Canik Municipality offered treats to the participants.
“Our youth carry the spirit of independence in their hearts”
Mayor İbrahim Sandıkçı congratulated all citizens on the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day and expressed that the youth will pass on the spirit of independence to future generations. Mayor İbrahim Sandıkçı stated, “We celebrated May 19th, which is one of the most important turning points in our history, where the torch of liberation was lit in our city, with enthusiasm together with our youth and citizens. We once again witnessed that our youth possess that indescribable spirit of May 19th, where our ancestors faced all kinds of difficulties and declared their independence to the whole world. Our youth carry the spirit of independence in their hearts. For the sake of our young people who will build our future, we will continue to work tirelessly. Hopefully, our youth, who have inherited the spirit of independence, unity, and solidarity from our ancestors, will make groundbreaking contributions in science, technology, art, and every field that resonates worldwide. On this occasion, I would like to commemorate our Republic’s founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and his comrades-in-arms, as well as all our martyrs, with mercy, and express my gratitude to our veterans.”
