The Beylikdüzü Municipality, which pioneers science, technology, and entrepreneurship with its implemented projects, has laid the foundations of the Aziz Sancar Science and Art Center, designed for Beylikdüzü.
Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, expressing that they have fulfilled their promises to Beylikdüzü one by one, stated: “Such centers are the greatest legacy we will leave to our children. We want children to encounter science and art and that new Aziz Sancars emerge from these lands.”
Producing projects with an approach that prepares Beylikdüzü for the future, values young people and supports their ideas, Beylikdüzü Municipality has laid the foundations of the Aziz Sancar Science and Art Center. According to the protocol signed between the Istanbul Technical University and the Aziz Sancar Foundation, the center will be designed and built entirely of recyclable and sustainable containers. The center, which has an approximately 1,200 square meter construction area, will include a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) Laboratory, workshops, and student accommodation areas. With the completion of the project, a environment will be created where young people will develop new ideas and produce projects, and strengthen their connections with science and art.
“We want new Aziz Sancars to emerge from these lands”
Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık inspected the construction site together with the technical team. Stating that they have fulfilled another dream of Beylikdüzü, Mayor Çalık said, “We also received approvals from Aziz Sancar for this project. We will build this center, which he said we should not drown in concrete and should minimize its contact with soil, using 40 shipping containers that are used in the construction of modern facilities like this. Such centers are the greatest legacy we will leave to our children. We want children to encounter science and art and that new Aziz Sancars emerge from these lands. I dream of a country where science and art are discussed, far from fighting and noise. We are working with all our might for this dream. Our neighbors should not worry; we will continue to fulfill the promises we have made to Beylikdüzü, one by one.”
