Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality is working to revive the old Ramadan months and pass on the traditions from generation to generation. In this context, the Metropolitan Municipality offers sherbet, a cultural tradition in the Ottoman period during Ramadan months. Citizens who see the sherbet servers in their fez and carrying their tulumba (a type of sweet pastry) quench their longing for the old Ramadan days.

SHERBET, THE UNIQUE TASTE

The Metropolitan Municipality, which has brought to life the sherbet distribution, an almost forgotten tradition of the Ramadan month, offered sherbet to citizens with the Kocaeli Volunteers after iftar. The Metropolitan Municipality, which introduced the unique taste of the Ottoman period to citizens at symbolic locations of the city such as the Walking Path, Izmit City Square and Eastern Winter Quarters, reminded everyone from 7 to 70 years old of Ramadan traditions.
