In a recent organ donation awareness event, Bahadır Tatlıöz shared his decision to become a source of hope for another family by donating his father’s organs after his passing. Tatlıöz, in an emotional speech, stated, “My father is still living in someone else, and he became the reason for someone else to live.”
Speaking at the seminar organized by Medicana Ataköy Hospital, General Surgeon Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karabulut emphasized Turkey’s significant position in the global ranking of organ donations. He stated, “In the world rankings, Turkey is 40th in cadaveric organ donations and 3rd in live organ donations.”
Prof. Dr. Karabulut pointed out that there is still insufficient awareness about organ donation and said, “According to the 2021 data, there are around 50,000 people waiting for organs in our country. However, only 2,800 people received organ donations. It is a significant responsibility for all of us to increase this number.”
Bahadır Tatlıöz highlighted that organ donation is a life-saving decision, stating, “With one decision, you can save a life. This small step can be the hope for another family.” He called on the public to be sensitive to organ donation.
