CHP Deputy Chairman Özgür Karabat responded to the bribery allegations against him in the Aziz İhsan Aktaş file.
When asked a question on the TV channel he attended, Karabat explained that Aziz İhsan Aktaş had probably called him to congratulate him on the convention day and that they had no further contact. He stated that his driver, who works with him, was unjustly arrested and that he felt sorry for his young driver. Regarding the alleged bribery, he strongly stated that there are camera recordings of the location, that he was not there, and that the allegations are baseless.
Karabat: “The indictment is amateurish”
When asked about a fezleke (investigation report) being prepared about him, Karabat said: “The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office cannot prepare this. They can separate the procedure and send it to the relevant places. The indictment is amateurish in this respect as well.

Karabat: “Perception and manipulation”
They call it a secret file. When I read the 578 pages, there is nothing that wasn’t already known. So, it seems it was never really secret. It’s all about perception and manipulation. It’s a file based on the slander of a person, whom they themselves label as a criminal organization leader, for whom they are proposing over 700 years of punishment. A mountain has labored and brought forth a mouse.
Karabat: “My driver has been in prison for 5 months”
Because of Aziz İhsan Aktaş’s slander, my driver was arrested, and for 5 months, this kid has been lying in prison innocently. They claim he received a receipt for 5 million liras. There is a receipt that you see on the internet and on TV right now. This receipt belongs to a company of someone named Ümit, and it does not belong to Aziz İhsan Aktaş.
