Journalist-writer Nur Batur, who participated in the meeting organized with the theme of “Invitation to Loyalty” as part of the Second Century Economics Congress, gave a speech with the title “Meeting the Contemporary World in the Path Opened by Atatürk”. Nur Batur said that it was a great honor for him to make a speech in İzmir on the centennial of the Republic.

Expressing that she believes that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who founded the country, created a great miracle, Nur Batur said, “Of course not only Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. I think the Turkish people have accomplished a great miracle under his leadership. I never get depressed. There is no struggle without hope. We must keep our hopes up. We need to realize where we were a century ago, where we are today, what an extraordinary accumulation we have. We are talking about a country whose every corner was occupied, a country that was born from the ashes of the Ottoman Empire. If this isn’t a miracle, what is? If I could go anywhere in the world as a republic woman and express my views as I wanted, I owe this to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the revolutions and the modern world.”

“The people of Turkey do not give their sovereignty to any person or authority”

Expressing that Turkey has an extraordinary common mind, Nur Batur said, “Turkey has the power to overcome these days. This study is a roadmap for Turkey’s second century. The product of the common mind has emerged in every field. It is as important to implement this roadmap as it is to reveal it. I hope that there is a team in Turkey that will implement this roadmap. We have a common strength, a common mind, and experience. In the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey, we came to a crossroads again. Will Turkey be a country where happy people live? Or will it continue to grapple with political, economic and social problems? The world should know that the people of Turkey cannot give their sovereignty to any person or authority. Sovereignty means honor, honour, honor and dignity. Independence can only be possible with economic independence,” he said.

“The Republic of Turkey was established as a European state”

Batur said: “One hundred years ago, the secular Republic of Turkey was founded as a European state. He was applauded both in the Islamic world and in the world. It was a great miracle. He became a model for the world. Atatürk and his friends made history a century ago.” Saying that peace is needed for development, Nur Batur also drew attention to the importance of secularism and said, “There can be no peace without secularism, without separating religion and state affairs. “Turkey needs to protect its secular constitution,” he said.
