Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) City Theaters will be in front of the audience with 9 children’s plays in March.

İBB City Theaters is reopening its stages on March 5 after the earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaraş and affected the surrounding provinces. 2022-2023 Theater Season is starting again with children’s games in order to stand up again and benefit from the healing power of art.

This month; The Nutcracker, Karagöz Farm Keeper, My Little Star, We Break an Apple Wolf, Dream, A Night’s Tale, Everyone Will Be a Magician, One Day My Shoe, The Watchman and the Postman will meet with the audience.

“Children Hand in Hand, Gifts to Hope and Fraternity!”

IMM City Theaters Children’s Education Unit students are leading a toy and book campaign with the title “Children, Hand in Hand, Gifts to Hope and Brotherhood” for their siblings affected by the earthquake.

Students receiving theater education at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) City Theaters Children’s Education Unit organize a toy and book campaign for their siblings affected by the earthquake. IMM City Theaters, which will open its curtains with children’s plays on Sunday, March 5, is also launching its gift toy and book campaign with children’s plays.

Our children, who will be artists of the future, lead the development of sensitivity and awareness for their siblings, in the gift campaign launched with the title of “Children, Hand in Hand, Gifts to Hope and Brotherhood”. In this campaign, which will be a good example of our children’s solidarity, children living in Istanbul will be able to put both a gift book or a toy in their gift packages, as well as a letter expressing their feelings and thoughts that will console their earthquake-stricken siblings.

NUTS (7+)

Little Clara forms a special bond with the Nutcracker, which she received as a Christmas present. On that night, when the beauty behind the visible will be revealed, a great adventure begins between dream and reality, in other worlds. This folk tale, which has attracted great attention in opera and cinema with its different versions since the 1800s, is now staged in the City Theater in all its glory. Adapted by Dilşad Çelebi from E.T.A Hoffmann’s tale and directed by Lerzan Pamir, Asrın Gurur Kuyucak, Ayşecan Tatari, Cihan Kurtaran, Çağrı Büyüksayar, Derya Keykubat, Dolunay Pircioğlu, Emel Bertan, Esra Ede, Emrah Derviş Soylu, Hakan Gürkan Gümüş, Osman Kaba, Pelin Budak, Salih Şimşek, Sefa Turan, Selen Nur Sarıyar, Ümit Bülent Dinçer, Yılmaz Aydın are starring. KARAGÖZ FARM keeper (3+ years)

Karagöz has been unemployed for a long time and is looking for a job. Eventually, he finds himself a job on a farm. His job is to take care of animals. But there is a problem. Karagöz does not know animals. Written and directed by Özgür Atkın, Elif Verit, Hakan Örge and İrem Erkaya take roles. The play will be at Fatih Reşat Nuri Stage on March 5, 12, 19, 2023.

MY LITTLE STAR (3+ Years)

One day, a star falls… From the sky… The little girl follows him… Maybe she cannot reach the star in her eye; but a star singer stumbles upon a crow, for chickens a grain of corn that shines brightly like a star, a glowing firefly with every breath he takes… He becomes friends with all of them… He finally realizes that the real star is in him, love, brotherhood, friendship.

The play, written and directed by Cengiz Özek, stars Ayşe Günyüz Demirci, Buğra Can Ildırışık, Yunus Erman Çağlar, Kamer Karabektaş, Mana Alkoy, Özge Kırdı, Pınar Pamuk, Tevfik Şahin. CRACKED APPLE WOLF (4-7 Years)

Elma Kurdu Kırtık is a fun children’s game for children under the age of 7, using puppets and played with live music. It tells the journey of a mischievous appleworm to find the perfect apple. Kırtık, who does not value what he has and despises those around him, realizes something much more valuable on this journey instead of reaching the perfect apple he is looking for. The game, which draws attention to the relations of children with their social environment, aims to develop the child’s perception by associating concrete objects with abstract concepts. The game, which recreates the contradictions of the child’s daily life in a colorful fantasy world, gives the child the chance to look at his own reality from the outside. B. Çağatay Çakıroğlu and Ö. Written by Özge Midilli-Ertan Kılıç and directed by Özge Midilli, the play includes Alp Tuğhan Taş, Ceren Kaçar, Ceysu Aygen, Emre Çağrı Akbaba, Gülce Çakır, Mehtap Gündoğdu Akbulut, Nilay Bağ, Nilay Yazıcıoğlu. A Night’s Tale, adapted from Shakespeare’s play A Midsummer Night’s Dream, is based on the concept of friendship. The play tells the events of a night in the forest where Şirin Girl, who wants to make friends with the person she wants, not the young person her family wants, spends with the Handsome Boy, the Strong Boy and the Cypress Girl. In the play directed by Musa Arslanali, written by William Shakespeare, Ayşe Nurseli Tırışkan Akpınar, Burhan Yeşilyurt, Çağlar Ozan Aksu, Güzin Alkan, Hüseyin Emre Şen, Mehmet Emre Ertunç, Oğuzhan Oğuz, Ömer Naci Boz, Seda Yılmaz and Serap Doğan take roles. EVERYONE WILL BECOME A MAGIC (3+ years)

The students of the famous magician Zubi dream of becoming a “master” and getting his magic hat. Zubi organizes a contest to determine the new owner of the magic hat. The game, which progresses with illusion shows, explains the importance of advancing towards the goal jointly.

Written and directed by Kubilay Tuncer, the play stars Aslı Şahin, Aybar Taştekin, Cihat Faruk Sevindik, Damla Cangül Yiğit, Zeliha Bahar Çebi. The play will be at the Sultangazi Hoca Ahmet Yesevi Stage on March 5, 12, 19, 2023.

ONE DAY IN MY SHOE (3+ Years)

A colorful kitchen… But everywhere is so messy… The player decides to get bored of tidying the kitchen but can’t find a single shoe. What’s that, first the other shoe, then everything in the kitchen starts talking. The lost shoe went in search of Captain Cook, and who knows what adventures she is going through… Derya Yıldırım plays a role in the play written by Derya Yıldırım and directed by Özgür Kaymak . The play was held on March 5, 12, 19, 2023 at the Museum Gazhane Prof. Dr. At Sevda Şener Stage, at Fatih Reşat Nuri Stage on March 26 and April 2, 2023.

WATCHER AND MASTER (3+ Years)

A porter and a postman are housemates in the work, adapted from the children’s book Piero the Postman and Marcello the Night Watchman. Since one works at night and the other during the day, they can’t see each other at all. When they both get sick on a cold winter day, they must share the house at the same time. Ada Alize Ertem, Besim Demirkıran, Cafer Alpsolay, Fatma İnan, Reyhan Karasu, Zeynep Ceren Gedikali star in the play, written by Lodovica Cima, Gabriele Clima, translated by Ceylan Özçapkın, and edited and directed by Derya Yıldırım.
