Turkish-born Danish singer Hilal Kaya reunited with music lovers on April 25, 2025, with the release of her new single “Sultan.” Previously gaining attention through three albums released with Kalaha and her first solo single “Perişan” in 2024, Kaya masterfully blends the sounds of the past with modern electronic elements in this latest work.
“Sultan”: A Danceable Melody, A Deep Story
Hilal Kaya’s new single “Sultan” tells the story of a woman who holds on to hope and joy despite life’s hardships. The song is dedicated to a woman named Sultan, whom Kaya met in Turkey and whose life story left a profound impression on her. With its 1970s-inspired Turkish psychedelic rock and funk elements, the track invites listeners to dance, while its lyrics offer a poignant and touching narrative.
Hilal Kaya describes the background of the song in her own words:
“Although the music of the song makes you want to dance, the lyrics actually tell a dramatic life story. During my time in Turkey, every time I saw Sultan and heard her story, I was deeply moved. Watching how much she loved to dance made me think that this might be the most beautiful response one can give to life.”
A Glimpse Into the 2026 Album
“Sultan” is the second single released from Hilal Kaya’s upcoming debut solo album, scheduled for release in 2026. In this way, the track offers a strong insight into the evolving soundscape of the artist’s musical universe. The song is available on all digital platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music.
