HB Art Gallery invites art enthusiasts on an interdisciplinary journey with the “Duet Between Dimensions” exhibition, a collaborative project by opera singer, painter, and sculptor Suat Arıkan and Iranian sculptor Ali Ghahari Kermani.
REFLECTIONS FROM THE ARTISTS’ INNER WORLDS
Suat Arıkan describes his artistic journey as follows:
“I’ve been painting since 1974. I studied opera at the Ankara State Conservatory and performed on stage, but painting and photography have always been at the center of my life. After retiring, I devoted myself entirely to art. Now, I live and breathe painting and sculpture 24/7—if I don’t paint in a day, it’s as if I haven’t lived at all! My chance encounter with Ali in Cihangir opened a new chapter in my life. Discovering the dialogue between his sculptures and my paintings has been a fascinating experience.”
Ali Ghahari Kermani expresses his artistic philosophy with these words:
“I am the son of one of Iran’s prominent sculptors and architects. In this exhibition with Suat, we represent a transition from the two-dimensional plane to a three-dimensional universe. But our true aim is to offer a journey from the material world to the spiritual realm. Each of our works was born from a distinct concept. I see painting as ‘colored literature,’ while my sculptures are like materialized poetry. The meeting of Suat’s colors with my forms creates a multi-layered experience for the viewer.”
