The Turkish premiere of Fernando Trueba’s film They Shot The Piano Player—hailed as the best animation of 2023 and the most original film at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival—will take place at Fantasİstanbul from September 19 to 26, 2024. Trueba, who won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 1994 with Belle Époque, brings his latest work to Turkish audiences.

The Turkish premiere of the 2023 critically acclaimed work by Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal—who were nominated for the Best Animation Oscar in 2009 for Chico & Rita—will take place at Fantasİstanbul under the motto “Original Film Guarantee.”

Artistic Director Kerem Akça explained the festival’s motto, which will introduce many films to Turkish audiences for the first time: “We will premiere the most original feature films from A-list festivals in Turkey.
