İBB undertook works that transformed the face of Eyüpsultan with its green areas, square arrangements and tram line. The Golden Horn, which has gained a clean and healthy appearance with regular work, has turned into a breathing space for Istanbulites. An uninterrupted and accessible green route has been created on the shores of the Golden Horn with the Golden Horn Sports Park, Silahtarağa Youth Park, and Cable Car Square.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) continued its ‘300 Projects in 300 Days’ marathon with the ‘Eyüpsultan Collective Service Ceremony’. Eyüpsultan and the shores of the Golden Horn, which history has called the “Golden Horn”, have been brought green areas that add liveliness and color. Within the scope of the collective opening, Haliç Sports Park, Silahtarağa Youth Park, Cable Car Square and Eyüpsultan Regional Employment Office were brought to the district by Ekrem İmamoğlu, the IMM President and the Nation Alliance’s vice president candidate.
IT WOULD BLAST THE HALIC, TURNED INTO A PARK
In 2012, it was decided to build a Waste Water Advanced Biological Treatment Plant in the Silahtarağa Youth Park, which consists of 50 thousand square meters. With the decision, the area was opened for construction and 1222 trees in the area were destroyed. In addition, there would be thousands of tons of wastewater entering the Golden Horn, which should not be left with wastewater even if it was treated. IMM, taking the opinion of scientists, gave up the project because Yenikapı and Baltalimanı Treatment Plants were sufficient.
Silahtarağa Youth Park is located in the middle of the green area that stretches from Eminönü along the Golden Horn and Alibeyköy Stream to the Alibey Dam. IMM protected all existing trees with precision and planted nearly 500 new trees in total. With the Silahtarağa Youth Park, Istanbul has gained a renewed green area of approximately 50 thousand square meters.
NEW MEETING AREA
The Cable Car Square, located right next to the Eyüpsultan Cable Car Station of the T5 tram line, was designed as an unobstructed and greener square for tram passengers. The square, which has an area of approximately 3 thousand square meters, has seating areas and a sales unit. This square, which will be used by those who want to reach Pierre Loti hill, which is a touristic view point, when they want to transfer from the tram line to the cable car line, was also designed as a gathering and dispersal area in case of natural disasters.
HALIC SPORTS PARK
Another one that is valued from all the idle areas of the Golden Horn is the Golden Horn Sports Park. The project, which has a size of approximately 23 thousand 800 square meters, was an area used by security units in previous years. With the T5 tram line passing through this area, the security units were moved to another area and this area remained idle. With the transformation of this area into the Golden Horn Sports Park, the residents of Eyüpsultan and Fatih gained another special area. The project includes a football field, skateboard rink (skate park), basketball courts, locker-shower unit, sitting areas and a parking lot for 85 cars.
APPROXIMATELY 100 THOUSANDS OF ISTANBUL FOUND A JOB
A new Regional Employment Office has been opened in Eyüpsultan, which has helped approximately 100,000 Istanbul residents find a job to date. There are currently 245 companies registered in Eyüpsultan district in the office, which was put into service with a team of 4 people in Eyüpsultan Silahtarağa Youth Park.
