Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek did not leave the earthquake victims alone during the Ramadan holiday. Mayor Böcek performed the holiday prayer in Gaziantep Nurdağı, where the holiday was celebrated with a heavy heart due to the pain experienced. Afterwards, Mayor Böcek met with the people of Gaziantep at the Halil İbrahim Sofrası event, which was attended by the leader of the Future Party, Ahmet Davutoğlu.
Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek and Future Party leader Ahmet Davutoğlu celebrated the Ramadan holiday in Gaziantep Nurdağı, where they performed the holiday prayer at the Fatih Millet Mosque. After visiting the cemetery for martyrs and earthquake victims in Nurdağı, Mayor Böcek and Mr. Davutoğlu visited the container settlement area set up by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality for earthquake victims in Nurdağı to celebrate the holiday with them.
A HEAVY-HEARTED HOLIDAY IN NURDAĞI
Later, Mr. Davutoğlu and Mayor Böcek met with the people of Gaziantep over breakfast. Mayor Böcek, who had breakfast and chatted with the people of Gaziantep at the Halil İbrahim Sofrası event hosted by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, stated that the holiday was celebrated with a heavy heart and said, “Today is a very meaningful and important day for me because today we are in the earthquake zone of Gaziantep Nurdağı. We are celebrating our holiday with a heavy heart. Many of our people lost their families, spouses, mothers, fathers, and children. Their homes collapsed, they were left alone, and they are in difficult situations. We had our last iftar (fast-breaking meal) here and performed the holiday prayer in Nurdağı in the morning.”
They Visited Earthquake Survivors
President Bocek, who celebrated Ramadan, said “I wish the Eid to be a source of health, happiness, and beautiful days without disasters for all humanity. Fire burns where it falls. We had breakfast with our fellow citizens from Nurdağı and visited them in the containers after the prayer. This place is very meaningful, bitter, and sad. I wanted to spend the holiday here where my late father, mother, and brother are. We have children, we have families. Hopefully, we will spend the holiday together here. The leader of the Future Party, Mr. Ahmet Davutoglu and his wife are also here. Together, we will visit the earthquake victims and celebrate their Eid,” he said.
President Bocek, together with the General Chairman Ahmet Davutoglu, visited the earthquake victims where they stayed and celebrated their Eid. President Bocek also distributed toys to the children and exchanged greetings with the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality personnel working in the region.
