A Bird Watching Walk is organized in the Gediz Delta on Sunday, March 26, with the cooperation of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Nature Association. We will meet at the Kaklıç Junction for the walk in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Candidate Gediz Delta.

On Sunday, March 26, a bird watching walk will be held in the Gediz Delta, one of Turkey’s most important natural areas. Those who want to participate in the free event organized by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Nature Association must register at kuslar@dogadernegi.org. Priority will be given to families who came to İzmir after being affected by the earthquake, and participation will be limited in number. Participants will meet at the Kaklıç Junction bus stop at 14.45 and move to the delta collectively.

Bird migration continues
Gediz Delta, which is about two million years old, is home to thousands of birds, plants and people. The delta contains many different habitats from sand bands to salty meadows, from reeds to temporary wet meadows, salty steppes and scrub. Different habitats bring high biodiversity. Spring bird migration continues in the Gediz Delta. In our meeting, we will accompany the spring bird migration and the breeding flurry of birds. Tern, little kestrel, bee-eater, willow sparrow, sedge cane, red-backed shrike, black-eared hawk are among the species we can observe while walking.
