Jewelery Exporters’ Association raises the bar at Istanbul Jewelery Fair

Jewelery Exporters’ Association President Burak Yakin announced that the fair has come to a much higher quality and spacious line compared to its competitors in the world, with the positive contributions of Informa Markets, which organizes the Istanbul Jewelry Show, which will be opened for the 53rd time today. He explained that the Istanbul Jewelry Fair is one of the biggest fairs in the world and that they will now work to make it the BEST fair. Deputy Minister of Commerce Rıza Tuna Turagay, who attended the opening of the fair, said that they follow the ever-increasing contribution of the jewelery industry to the Turkish economy and that he believes the 2023 target of 7 billion dollars will be exceeded.

Organized by the Jewelry Exporters’ Association and Informa Markets, Istanbul Jewelry Show opened its doors for the 53rd time. In his speech at the opening of the Istanbul Jewelry Show, the Deputy Minister of Trade stated that the jewelery industry’s contribution to the Turkish economy is very valuable and that he believes that the export target of 7 billion dollars will be exceeded. Burak Yakin, President of the Jewelery Exporters’ Association, said, “We are holding a world-wide fair like jewellery.”

Stating that 1,500 companies participated in the fair, which had a different opening ceremony than in previous years, due to the earthquake, Mr. Near continued his words as follows:

“Despite the conditions we are in as the Jewelery Exporters’ Association, we brought nearly 1000 foreign buyers from 628 companies from all over the world to our fair. Our companies have prepared really special stands. We go to fairs in every country of the world, we have eliminated the slum atmosphere in the biggest fairs. We have very valuable areas such as Designer Club and Art For Jewelery at the fair. Again, no country in the world separates areas in this sense; we have a culture of thousands of years, of course we need to reflect this. Turkey will heal its wounds faster with this fair.”

MİB President Burak Yakin emphasized that they attach importance to making the Istanbul Jewelry Show, one of the largest fairs in the world, the best fair in the world; “It is important that the fair is not only big, but also good. We are one of the 5 biggest fairs, now we have to be one of the best, even the best. Both the size and quality of our fair will be reflected in the added value in exports, and we will reach our target of exports over 7 billion dollars by producing high added value.”

Visiting the stands of the companies in the fair, Deputy Minister Rıza Tuna Turagay and Burak Near visited the Jewelery Technology Research stand, the technology developing partner of the Jewelery Exporters’ Association, and examined the first diamond analysis machine produced by Turkish engineers, designers and software developers, and the jewelery store produced for the first time in Turkey. also tried the lens. Near presented Deputy Minister Turagay with the first Turkish made loupe, which is an indispensable accessory for jewelers.

At the Art for Jewelery – Inspiration Hub event organized by the Istanbul Jewelry Show and the Jewelery Exporters’ Association, WSGN explained the current trends and explained the story of jewelry and jewelery that started in Anatolia since 12 thousand years ago with its “Jewel’s Time Warp” installation. also tells. Speaking at the opening, MİB President Burak Yakin explained that they are trying to develop the sector while healing the wounds of the earthquake, and that Turkey’s magnificent past of 12 thousand years has contributed to the jewelery industry.

Explaining that masters and young designers were brought together in the fair in accordance with the Master Apprentice tradition, Yakin stated that 12 master designers and 12 young designers will take part in the fair within this scope. Explaining the reflections of Turkey’s 12-thousand-year-old history on the jewelry culture at the fair, Mr. Near explained that the Art For Jewelery field is only in Turkey; “Because we are carrying a jewelery culture of thousands of years to the future, 12 thousand years of civilization is not found in any other country.” Said. He stated that a special area was given at the fair in order to keep the silver craftsmanship alive, which is one of the important parts of this culture, and stated that steps were taken to carry the disappearing industry into the future in cooperation with GESAD (Silverware Handcraftsmen Association).

While more than 1,500 companies will participate in the Istanbul Jewelry Fair, more than 40 thousand industry professionals from 140 countries will be hosted, apart from the purchasing committees. In the fair, gold, jewellery, diamonds, colored stones, precious and semi-precious stones, pearls, silver, silver jewelry and silver household goods, gold mounts, refineries, watches, molds, window decoration, machinery-equipment and sub-industry, safes, software, product groups such as logistics and lighting will be included.

Within the scope of the fair, special works were also carried out due to the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake. While some programs at the fair were canceled due to the earthquake, the sector’s aid to the region continued uninterrupted. Within the scope of the fair, special supports and areas were allocated for those affected by the earthquake.
