This year we are organizing the second Tomris Uyar Short Story Contest. Named after our admiration for Tomris Uyar’s short storytelling, this competition tells us, “It turns out that he has so many fans!” he said. The number of applications was so high that we were all surprised… On the other hand, we were delighted and deeply proud of the pleasure of doing it right.

It is an important value of our literature, says Tomris Uyar. This short story competition will continue under his name as long as the applications continue. We published the short stories that made it to the finals of the competition held last year. We attached Tomris Uyar’s melancholic look to its cover.

The short story is one of the most difficult arts in literature. Words must be distilled not once, not twice, but many times. Between the lines is a hundred times more crowded than the lines. The field is narrow but deep, dark and complex. What is acceptable is to always write a shorter one, to catch the reader’s heart and hold tight. It is to have it read over and over and multiply the text with itself.

The theme of 2023 is DISASTER.

We are going through bad times. Shallowness, superficiality, ignorance and mediocrity prevail throughout the world. A chain of lies, which they call post-truth, is spreading like an epidemic sitting on the throne of truth. The beautiful, the good, the just are despised. Art, blindfolded philosophy, and heartbroken literature. But the dawn comes when the darkness is at its darkest. Its herald is the artists who show us the future with their intuition.

The door of this competition is open to all writers who hold a pen and write stories, freely and fairly. Whether he writes us the disaster or the recipe for the disaster. Here you go, the word is yours now!..
