ZU-UK, one of London’s most important interactive performance ensembles, is coming to Istanbul in February 2023 with the support of British Council Turkey Creative Collaborations with its DRIFT International Artist Residency programs, which have been held in more than 20 editions in different cities around the world.

Drift Istanbul, which will be hosted by Turkey’s first contemporary circus arts team, Kabile Sahne and Circus Arts, is a professional development and mentoring program for artists at different stages of their careers. It offers an interdisciplinary experimentation and discovery environment free of charge, especially for artists working in new media fields such as theatre, dance, performance, writing, installation and digital arts.

Drift Istanbul project, directed by young artist Zehra Bilgin, who is in London for theater research and coordinated by dramaturg Eylem Ejder and designer Özgür Kavurmacıoğlu, is at Kabile Sahne with the aim of transferring new trends and forms in contemporary performance and theater from London to Istanbul. It will start in February and will continue intensively for 1 week.

The application deadline for artists wishing to participate is January 22. The theme of Drift Istanbul has been determined as “At Touching Distance”. The projects that the participating artists will produce based on this theme will be presented to the audience/participating audience at the Kabile Sahne, with a free public event on Friday, 17 February.
