The award ceremony of the “Zeytinburnu Municipality Story Contest”, which was held for the eighth time this year, was held at Zeytinburnu Culture and Arts. The Mayor of Zeytinburnu, Ömer Arısoy, who presented their awards to the winners of the competition held in Zeytinburnu to increase the interest in literature and especially the story, and to discover talented writers or writer candidates, said, “Turkey’s writers will be among my brothers who participated in our Story Competition.” said.
The winners of the 8th Story Contest organized by Zeytinburnu Municipality were presented their awards at a ceremony held in Zeytinburnu Culture and Arts. Zeytinburnu Mayor Ömer Arısoy and the district protocol presented their certificates of achievement and awards to the winners. Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor of Zeytinburnu Ömer Arısoy said, “Compared to the previous 7 years, we broke the record of other years with the participation of 2,866 people. Turkey’s writers will be among my brothers who participated in the Story Contest.” said.
“WE MUST START WITH READING AND CROWN WITH WRITTEN”
Right at the beginning of the ceremony, Mayor Ömer Arısoy, who took part in the selection committee of the competition, presented the story writers Cemal Şakar, Aykut Ertuğrul and Murat k. He presented his plaques to Murat. Arısoy, who then took the podium, said, “Our book reading competition has become a brand throughout Turkey. Today we are at the award ceremony of our 8th Story Contest. We are happy if we could encourage our children and young people to write just by means of a short story competition. We know that writing is the continuation of reading, the result of reading. No one can write without reading. The main thing is to read. Therefore, it is necessary to start with reading and crown it with writing.” said.

Providing information about the short story competition, Arısoy said, “This year, we broke the record of other years with 2,866 compared to the previous 7 years. Many thanks to all my brothers and sisters who participated. From here, the authors of Turkey will come out of my brothers who participated in the short story competition. I believe it. Even if we are not a famous writer, going beyond reading improves us all and increases the joy of life. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed to the preparation and implementation of this competition. I heartily congratulate my brothers who participated in the competition and received awards.” said.
HOLIDAY AND MONEY AWARDS GIVEN TO THE RANKERS
The Story Contest was evaluated in two stages this year in order to encourage students and adults who are members of Zeytinburnu Municipality, Information Houses and Youth Center to read and write, and to support their personal and social development. In the first stage, the works were eliminated by the preliminary selection committee. The works, which passed the pre-selection as the second stage, were re-evaluated by the 7-person selection committee. Based on this evaluation made by the selection committee, the winners of the first, second and third place awards in each category and those deemed worthy of encouragement were determined. The 1st winner of the competition was awarded 15 thousand TL, the 2nd 10 thousand TL, and the 3rd 7 thousand 500 TL. Apart from the works that ranked in the first three, 5 works from each category were given a monetary award of 2,500 TL as an incentive.
