Zeynep Öykü will perform “Melancholy in the Renaissance” concert on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at All Saints Moda Church, with ticket proceeds donated to earthquake victims.
She will perform Arpa Doppia at the concert
Zeynep Öykü, the master of Baroque music, after giving concerts across the country and abroad with her project “Baroque Harp,” will now bring to life the music of Shakespeare’s England with the harp of that era. The concert, named “Melancholy in the Renaissance” by John Dowland, will take place on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at All Saints Moda Church, where the ticket proceeds will be donated to earthquake victims. A Baroque and early music expert, Zeynep Öykü will perform the Italian Renaissance harp Arpa Doppia, which has very few performers worldwide, at this concert.
John Dowland
John Dowland, who lived between 1563 and 1626, was the most important lute player and composer of the Renaissance. He is known mostly for his melancholic songs accompanied by the lute. His most famous instrumental works are the seven pavans written on the theme of the lute song “Flow my tears,” titled Lacrimae, Tears. These pieces were among the most frequently performed chamber music works of the time and had a great influence on 17th century music as well.
