Wind Energy Target Of 30 Gw Investment Strategies From Eksim Enerji Ceo

Wind Energy Target of 30 GW: Investment Strategies from Eksim Enerji CEO

Evaluating the first half of the year in the renewable energy sector, Eksim Enerji CEO Arkın Akbay stated, “Energy consumption in our country increased by 7% by the end of July compared to the previous year. This increase, driven by economic revival and climate change, is steadily raising the demand for renewable energy.” Akbay also added that they expect the share of wind and solar energy in total energy production to significantly increase by 2035.

Noting Eksim Enerji’s attention-grabbing investments in renewable energy across all regions of Turkey, CEO Arkın Akbay evaluated the developments in the energy sector. He mentioned that, in the first seven months of 2024, Turkey’s installed energy capacity surpassed 111,000 megawatts. “Of this installed capacity, 13% is from solar energy and 11% is from wind energy plants. With the strong trend in economic activity, the impact of the climate, and the simultaneous expansion of electric vehicle charging stations, energy consumption increased by 7% by the end of July compared to last year,” Akbay said.

Investments to Increase Fourfold in 10 Years

Akbay also indicated that a new era will begin in the sector with the integration of energy storage and renewable energy production facilities starting from 2026. He stated, “According to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources’ 2035 National Energy Plan, solar energy investments are targeted to reach 53 GW. The current installed solar capacity nearing 16 GW is expected to triple within 10 years. For wind power, the goal is to increase from 12 GW to 30 GW. We are in a period where the development of regulations through dialogue, the economic and balanced progress of permits and licensing processes, the ecosystem, and consumer demand, along with the increasing importance of investment incentives, are critical. During this period, the ability of projects to access financing sources will stand out. We see that renewable energy companies with strong financial structures and competent teams are rapidly contributing their allocated energy capacities to the economy.”

Renewable Energy to Surpass Coal

Evaluating global markets, Akbay noted that energy demand is expected to reach its highest levels in the last twenty years by 2025, saying, “There is a rapid increase in energy based on electrification in heating, transportation, and industry. This is due to strong economic growth, increasing heat and cold waves, data centers, electric vehicles, and high demand based on heat pumps. Additionally, it has become clear that the amount of electricity generated from renewable sources will surpass that produced from coal by 2024-2025. Furthermore, the share of renewable resources in global electricity supply is expected to increase from 30% to 35% with the new production facilities coming online during the same period.”

Artificial Intelligence to Shape the Future of Renewable Energy

According to data from the International Energy Agency (IEA), the introduction of artificial intelligence algorithms has made the electricity demand of data centers a significant issue. The increasing use of artificial intelligence and data analytics across various fields is heightening uncertainties related to the energy consumption of data centers. These uncertainties include the impacts of distribution speed, AI potential, and improvements in energy efficiency. Highlighting the role of artificial intelligence in the renewable energy sector, Arkın Akbay emphasized the critical importance of better collection and processing of electricity production and consumption data, accurate analysis of past and current trends, improved prediction of future trends, and avoiding inefficient investments. Akbay stated, “By leveraging the deep learning capabilities of artificial intelligence, we will continue to enhance renewable energy production and maintenance processes, providing economic and sustainable electricity.”

“We Offer Solutions Respectful to the Environment and Community Life”

Eksim Enerji has recently added three more wind turbines to its installed wind power plant in Geyve, Sakarya, with approval from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. This has increased the company’s installed capacity to 487.6 MW. As part of this 80 million Euro capacity expansion project, 11 more turbines are expected to be commissioned by the end of the year. It was noted that Eksim Enerji will continue to make investments that increase capacity utilization and reduce carbon emissions, helping to reverse the negative impacts of climate change.

Working for the Economic Supply of Electricity

Eksim Enerji CEO Arkın Akbay expressed that the increase in energy demand and the growing share of renewable energy in electricity production are accelerating the targeted transformation. He stated, “These changes reshaping the energy sector continue to evolve in alignment with our goals. Thanks to new technologies, we are not only enhancing production efficiency in our existing facilities but also taking a proactive approach to developing and implementing innovative solutions in sustainable energy production. Eksim Enerji continues to invest in production and consumption modeling with predictive artificial intelligence applications in forecasting algorithms and business processes. This allows us to focus on the economic supply of electricity in geographically suitable areas with high capacity utilization through the selection of the right technologies. We view leading these innovations shaping the future of the sector not just as a goal but also as a responsibility towards nature and society.”
