Volvo’s smallest and most environmentally friendly electric SUV, the EX30, is set to hit Turkish roads in July 2025. Featuring a 150 kW motor tailored for the Turkish market, the model benefits from a reduced 10% Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV), making it highly competitive with a starting price of 1,913,000 TL. Manufactured at Volvo’s Ghent factory in Belgium, the EX30 boasts a carbon footprint of under 27 tons, an impressive 475 km range, and rapid acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds.

Market-Specific Powertrain and Tax Advantage for Turkey
The EX30 is equipped with a rear-wheel-drive 150 kW (204 hp) electric motor developed specifically for the Turkish market—allowing it to fall within Turkey’s favorable 10% Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) bracket. This strategic move enables the vehicle to launch at a highly competitive starting price of 1,913,000 TL. The price includes all costs except for Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV), license plate, and traffic insurance.
This motor option underscores Volvo’s recognition of Turkey as a strategic market. A significant portion of the initial production capacity at Volvo’s Ghent factory in Belgium has been allocated to meet Turkish demand. Thanks to this prioritization, orders placed from April 2025 onward are set for delivery starting in July.
The 10% ÖTV benefit is made possible by staying below the critical 160 kW power threshold for electric vehicles. This positions the EX30 as a standout in the B-segment—not just for its premium features but also for its strong price-to-performance ratio. Volvo Car Turkey notes that this approach is a key part of its strategy to gain leadership in the premium SUV segment.
Sustainable Design and Material Innovation
The EX30 stands out as Volvo’s most environmentally friendly vehicle to date, boasting the brand’s lowest-ever carbon footprint. With lifetime CO₂ emissions kept under 27 tons, it is approximately 25% more eco-efficient than its competitors. This achievement is the result of using 100% renewable energy in manufacturing facilities and incorporating recycled materials throughout the vehicle.
The car’s body uses 25% recycled aluminum, 17% recycled steel, and 17% recycled polymers. Inside, sustainable materials such as denim, flax, and wool take center stage. Four interior themes—named “Breeze,” “Mist,” “Pine,” and “Indigo”—are inspired by Scandinavian landscapes. Notably, the denim fabrics are crafted using waste fibers recovered during the recycling process.
The EX30 also adopts an “optimization” design principle, where multiple functions are integrated into single components. This reduces the total number of parts, lowering both weight and material consumption. Energy efficiency is further enhanced through features like an infrared-coated panoramic glass roof. Meanwhile, ambient lighting themes such as “Northern Light” and “Forest Bath,” inspired by Sweden’s natural scenery, promote a sense of sustainable luxury.
High Performance and Seamless Technology Integration
The EX30 holds the title of Volvo’s fastest vehicle to date: the Twin Motor variant delivers 428 hp and 543 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. The single-motor version, equipped with a 150 kW motor developed specifically for Turkey, offers an impressive 475 km range. With 175 kW DC fast charging, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 27 minutes.
At the heart of the cabin is a 12.3-inch central display powered by the Snapdragon® Cockpit platform, featuring full Google integration—including Maps, Assistant, and the Play Store—for a highly intuitive user experience. The tech package is further enhanced by wireless Apple CarPlay, digital key sharing, and over-the-air (OTA) software updates. A Harman Kardon soundbar system, offering 1,040W of power and 5.1 surround sound, delivers a listening experience that sets a new benchmark in its class.
True to Volvo’s legacy of safety, the EX30 comes with features such as Safe Exit alert and Park Pilot Assist. The Ultra trim level includes a 360° camera, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), and adaptive cruise control as standard. These features, optimized for urban driving, make the EX30 a “small giant” despite its compact size.
Production and Strategic Role in Turkey
Shipments of the EX30 to Turkey have begun from Volvo’s Ghent factory in Belgium. With production kicking off in April 2025, the facility prioritized the Turkish market for its initial batch. The plant has been modernized with a €200 million investment, including a new battery assembly line and 600 robots to boost EX30 production capacity.
This geographic shift helps Volvo bypass import tariffs and customs barriers often encountered with vehicles shipped from China. By manufacturing in Europe, the company avoids extra taxes and significantly reduces delivery times. Volvo’s addition of 350 new jobs at the Ghent plant further underscores its strategic commitment to the region.
Volvo’s operations in Turkey are led by General Manager Alican Emiroğlu, who describes the EX30 as “a strategic breakthrough on the path to leadership in the premium SUV segment.” The model is expected to contribute to Volvo’s record-breaking global sales of 763,389 vehicles in 2024, now with strong support from the Turkish market.
Market Strategy and Segment Transformation
Volvo Car Turkey is launching the EX30 in its fully equipped “Ultra” trim to make top-tier B-segment technology more accessible. Standard features include a panoramic glass roof, a 22 kW onboard charger (OBC), heated seats and steering wheel, and keyless entry—providing a hardware value 15–20% higher than most competitors.
The brand’s pricing-performance balance aims to expand the “accessible premium” segment in Turkey’s EV market. Emiroğlu emphasizes that “the EX30, offering features well above its class, embodies our vision for sustainability.” The model is also available in personalizable color options like Sand Dune, Cloud Blue, and Onyx Black.
Aligned with Volvo’s 2040 carbon neutrality goal, the EX30 is set to accelerate the electric transition in Turkey. With the global target of 50% EV sales, Volvo positions the Turkish premium SUV market as a potential tipping point.
