According to the announcement sent to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), Ülker Biscuits reached a revenue of 10.1 billion TL in the first quarter of this year. The share of Turkey operations in revenue was 66%, while the share of exports and foreign operations was 34%.
Ülker CEO Mete Buyurgan stated that Ülker Biscuits continues to contribute to Turkey with all its activities and shared the following information about the first quarter results: “On February 6, a very large earthquake disaster occurred that affected 11 cities and deeply hurt all of us. We took quick action from the first day of the earthquake, sent our products to the region. We were there for the earthquake victims by sending the Nutritious Biscuits that we developed very quickly to the disaster area and we continue to be. On the other hand, we ended the first quarter of 2023, which started quite challenging, with very successful results.”
Buyurgan stated that they signed important syndicated loan agreements in the first quarter of the year and continued: “We signed a total of $248 million credit agreement with the leadership of Bank of America, Coöperatieve Rabo Bank U.A. and Emirates NBD Bank Capital Limited, and with the participation of JP Morgan Chase Bank, N.A, Sharjah Islamic Bank PJSC and Gulf Bank. In addition, we realized a credit agreement of 75 million euros with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). These agreements became a sign of the international banks’ confidence in our company and our country, and they stand out as Ülker’s first agreements related to sustainability. We continued our understanding of sustainability, which is at the center of our business approach, in the financing area as well.”
