Nusura Tiperu, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to Ankara, visited the Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay. Pointing out that Turkey has a developing diplomacy and trade volume with African countries in the recent period, President Altay wished that the visit would conduce to the cohesion between their countries.
Nusura Tiperu, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to Ankara, met with the Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay.
Expressing his satisfaction with the visit, President Altay said, “Turkey has recently developed a diplomatic and commercial volume with African countries. I hope that this visit of yours will also contribute to the cohesion between our countries. Konya is an ancient city that has been able to sustain its urban life for 10 thousand years. We are also located in a city that was the capital of the Seljuk civilization for 200 years. Today, it is Turkey’s 6th largest city in terms of population. It is also one of Turkey’s agricultural and industrial production centers. It is a young and dynamic city with nearly 130 thousand students at its 5 universities. In addition, Konya is one of the leading cities in Turkey as a municipality. Together with the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, we carry out many international tasks. We will take over the presidency of the UCLG United Cities and Local Governments Organization, which is headquartered in Barcelona.

Nusura Tiperu, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to Ankara, also thanked President Altay for his hospitality. Expressing that he came to Konya for the first time, Tiperu said, “Konya is a very beautiful city. It’s a very quiet city. I am very pleased to meet the president of such a city. We also greatly appreciate your contribution to the earthquake. I also brought the greetings of our President of Uganda. We are also very sorry for what happened in the earthquake. The whole world is very sad. We are with you. Especially you supported the world, and the world supports you. Especially what President Erdogan has done in Africa is very remarkable,” he said.
