According to data from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), Turkey’s travel and tourism industry is expected to generate an economic contribution of approximately 5.2 trillion TL in 2025, setting a historic record. This development further strengthens Turkey’s strong position in global tourism.
Turkey’s Rise in Tourism Continues
Speaking at a meeting in Antalya organized at the invitation of Coral Travel Group Chairman Ayhan Bektaş, WTTC President and CEO Julia Simpson highlighted the growth of Turkey’s tourism sector. Simpson revealed figures showing that Turkey’s tourism revenues in 2025 are projected to account for 12% of the country’s GDP.
While emphasizing the rapid increase in both domestic and international tourist spending, it was noted that the sector’s contribution to employment is expected to reach 3.3 million people — representing more than 10% of the country’s total employment.

Forecasts for Turkey’s Tourism in 2025 and Beyond
According to the WTTC’s Annual Economic Impact Report (EIR):
- International visitor spending is expected to reach 2.6 trillion TL in 2025.
- Domestic visitor spending is projected to rise to 1.4 trillion TL.
- By 2035, Turkey aims to generate 7 trillion TL in tourism revenue.

The discussions in Antalya were attended by Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin, Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek, ATSO President Yusuf Hacısüleyman, TUROFED President Erkan Yağcı, AKTOB President Kaan Kavaloğlu, and TTYD President Oya Narin. The meetings focused on plans to develop Turkey’s tourism and promote Antalya.
