Ersin Tatar, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), visited the tent city established by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality in Hatay Defne.
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Ersin Tatar visited the tent city established by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality in Defne district of Hatay. President Tatar, who took care of the earthquake victims one by one, visited the tent city and received information from the authorities about the work done. During his visit, President Tatar was accompanied by TRNC Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, TRNC Ambassador to Ankara İsmet Korukoğlu and TRNC Mersin Consul General Zalihe Mendeli.

President Ersin Tatar visited the tent city established by the Metropolitan Municipality in Hatay Defne. Expressing his wishes to the people of the region to get well soon, President Tatar said, “My condolences to all our nation. As the Turkish Cypriot people, we share the pain of our Turkey,” and noted what they saw on the spot, how they worked to heal the wounds in the extraordinary conditions that emerged. Reminding that he attended the Organization of Turkish States Leaders’ Summit yesterday, President Tatar stated that all the states in the organization have done their part to help Turkey and are ready to do so.
“OUR PAIN IS BIG”
Expressing that there were many people who immigrated to the TRNC from Hatay after 1974 and that these people lost their relatives in the earthquake, President Tatar expressed his condolences to everyone who lost their relatives. President Tatar said that some of the convoy of Famagusta Turkish Maarif College students, teachers and parents lost their lives after the hotel they stayed in was destroyed in Adıyaman.
CAREFULLY INTERESTED IN CHILDREN
During his visit to Çadırkent, President Tatar talked with the earthquake victims and took a close interest in the children. Making a statement to the journalists after receiving information from the metropolitan authorities in the tent city, President Tatar stated that the Republic of Turkey is a great and powerful state; “The Republic of Turkey is a state that is able to heal its wounds as soon as possible,” he said.
“I WISH OUR PEOPLE GOOD GOOD LUCK”
Tatar wishing for the people of the region to return to their normal lives as soon as possible, said, “There is a really extraordinary effort. With the instructions of the President and all our governors, mayors, teams, they are trying to manage this process with superhuman strength and self-sacrifice. As we all know, we are talking about a huge disaster that covers 11 provinces. Fixing all this and returning to normal is not as easy as it seems. Management is running this business with great success. So I want to express my congratulations to them. I say goodbye to our people,” he said.
