The “Development of Vegetable Cultivation Project,” implemented by the Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality to support vegetable producers and ensure the supply of fresh vegetables needed by consumers, held a tomato seed distribution ceremony for producers at the Old Bus Station Area on May 8, 2023, Monday at 11:00.
The distribution ceremony was attended by CHP Tekirdağ Deputy Ilhami Özcan Aygun, Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Kadir Albayrak, Malkara Mayor Ulaş Yurdakul, CHP Malkara District President Hülya Ertan, DEVA Party Malkara District President Filiz Yıldırım Özcan, Felicity Party District President Adem Erdoğan, Malkara Deputy Mayors Hüseyin Vasfi Güner, Ersin Kaçar, Tekirdağ Agricultural Cooperatives Union President Ramazan Demirkıran, Malkara Chamber of Agriculture President Talat Kaya, Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality Agricultural Services Department Head Fatih Bakanoğulları, Malkara Municipal Council Members, NGO Presidents, Neighborhood Heads, and producers.
The ceremony began with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem in honor of the Founder of our Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades-in-arms, and all of our dear martyrs. Malkara Chamber of Agriculture President Talat Kaya, Tekirdağ Agricultural Cooperatives Union President Ramazan Demirkıran, and Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality Agricultural Services Department Head Fatih Bakanoğulları delivered speeches thanking those who contributed to the project.
After Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality Agricultural Services Department Head Fatih Bakanoğulları, Malkara Mayor Ulaş Yurdakul spoke, saying, “To make the people living in Malkara happy, we need to make the producers happy. If the producers are happy in Malkara, the tradesman is happy, the business owner is happy, the industrialist is happy, the civil servant is happy, everyone is happy. That’s why we distributed strawberry seedlings last week. Today, we are distributing tomato seedlings.
I thank everyone who has made a serious effort to increase the happiness of our people in our city, especially our Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Kadir Albayrak, in front of my fellow Malkarans.
One of the problems in our town of Malkara is the decreasing population and the outmigration we are experiencing due to lack of employment opportunities, which makes it difficult to keep our youth here.
We want to prevent outmigration from Malkara by supporting production, industry, and social areas. In the previous term, we built nine animal irrigation ponds in our city to increase the surface water ratio. I believe that with the instruction of our Mayor Kadir, we will build at least 3 or 4 more animal irrigation ponds in Malkara in the last year of our duty.
I think that Mayor Kadir will give the good news about the Yenidibek Closed System Irrigation prepared by the Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality Agricultural Services Department.
After the speech of Mayor Ulaş Yurdakul of Malkara, Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Kadir Albayrak spoke: “Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality has certain visions and missions. Among them, agriculture and animal husbandry hold a very important place. Compared to other cities, Tekirdağ is really ahead in agriculture. As the Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality, we are adding a new project to our portfolio every day for the development of agriculture and animal husbandry, which is one of the elements that make up our vision. In this context, as Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality, we have implemented the Vegetable Cultivation Development Project in our province according to the need. Last week, we met with our producers in the districts of Süleymanpaşa, Çorlu, Çerkezköy, and Saray. Today, we will distribute tomato seedlings in Malkara and Hayrabolu districts to support vegetable producers and provide fresh vegetables that consumers need. We will distribute a total of 11,000 table tomatoes and 17,000 tomato seedlings in Malkara and 4,000 table tomato seedlings in Hayrabolu. I wish the seedlings we distribute will be auspicious and productive for our producers.”
CHP Tekirdağ MP İlhami Özcan Aygun wished the tomato seedling distribution to be auspicious for the producers in his speech.
After the speeches, the tomato seedlings were distributed to the producers.
