After two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6, with their epicenter in Kahramanmaraş, the Turkish Red Crescent continues to carry out their work in the earthquake zones with their professional teams and volunteers. The Red Crescent teams have reached about 900 villages where basic food needs have been identified, delivering aid by land and with the help of Turkish Armed Forces helicopters.
The Red Crescent, which activated all of its teams from the first moment of the disaster within the framework of the Turkish Disaster Response Plan for its tasks of providing food and blood supply, started to support feeding by means of mobile kitchens, field kitchens, and mobile food distribution vehicles in 10 cities and 48 districts affected by the earthquake. With its thousands of staff and volunteers serving in more than 500 points in the disaster area, the Red Crescent provides 3 meals and food supplies daily to approximately 2.6 million people, with the support of food platform members and organizations.
As of the 6th day of the earthquake, the Red Crescent reached approximately 900 villages that have been reported to have needs due to the collapse, and they are carrying durable food items, blankets, and clothing aids for the citizens living in these villages. The Red Crescent reaches villages that they can not reach by road with the help of Turkish Armed Forces helicopters, leaving the necessary materials in the villages.
