Artificial intelligence, which was seen as a futuristic subject until a while ago, has made a great rise, especially with ChatGPT becoming accessible to everyone. Oyunfor General Manager Mehmet Dumanoğlu thinks that artificial intelligence will take a much more place in our lives in the coming years.
Can you briefly talk about what artificial intelligence is in general terms?
Artificial intelligence, whose name we have been hearing more and more recently, is one of the prominent technological developments of today and the future. The term Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the ability of a computer program to perform human intelligence-related tasks or reasoning processes.
In which areas is artificial intelligence used?
Artificial intelligence has been used in many different ways for a long time. Examples of popular and common uses of AI algorithms include: Google Translate, which recognizes speech or text and translates accordingly, recommendation systems of shopping sites, spam filters, Siri, Alexa, GPS, and of course video games. In fact, artificial intelligence has been used in video games for a very long time, in different forms and levels, and it is still being used. Each of the -for example- enemies that the player encounters in a game actually has an artificial intelligence. They adjust their own moves according to the player’s moves, they can follow certain routes, etc. How good the artificial intelligence in games is or not is usually up to the producer of the game; It is not possible to talk about a single main technology.
Apart from these, robots on production lines of manufacturing companies and small appliances that clean floors in our homes also benefit from artificial intelligence. Of course, it is possible to multiply these examples; We can say that artificial intelligence is used in many more areas than you can imagine.
So why has artificial intelligence suddenly started to be talked about intensely?
In the examples I have just given, we can say that artificial intelligence is positioned as a subsystem. However, the opening of ChatGPT, which is a highly developed system, for everyone, in a sense, enabled artificial intelligence to meet with the end user. Likewise, Midjourney and DALL-E etc. Algorithms that draw and even create works of art through artificial intelligence have also attracted the attention of the general user, and this concept has entered our lives in a ‘user-friendly’ format.
Can you talk about the examples of artificial intelligence that a standard computer or phone user can reach right now?
At the beginning of the examples, of course, comes ChatGPT. This artificial intelligence bot, which tries to help you by answering your questions, is getting smarter day by day as it has the ability to learn. We also mentioned DALL-E and Midjourney; These software scan the entire internet using the keywords you provide, combine the data and draw you a singular picture that is nowhere else.
Currently, many companies or developers are developing their own artificial intelligence programs for use in different jobs. For example, Krisp removes background noise and noise in phone calls, Beatoven produces royalty-free music, Stockimg creates book covers, wallpapers or logos with keywords, Resume Worded lets you write a good resume. It is possible to increase the examples, but what you need to know is that many daily tasks will be made easier thanks to artificial intelligence.
How do you see the future of artificial intelligence?
If you remember, Bill Gates said that the technology of the future is not virtual reality, but artificial intelligence. Thereupon, Microsoft strengthened its browser called ¨Edge¨ with artificial intelligence. Google also announced its own artificial intelligence technology, Bard. If the developments in the field of artificial intelligence continue at this rate, I think that systems that will make our work easier in the next few years will enter our lives.
Finally, do you think artificial intelligence can bring the end of some professions?
When we look at the history of humanity, we see that some professions have disappeared with technological developments. In the current situation, we cannot say that the existing artificial intelligence technologies are at a sufficient level for the automation of professions, but since this is a very dynamic and unpredictable subject, it is not possible for us to make a clear comment. Perhaps it would be better to direct this question to ChatGPT; say what?
