Evrim Art Gallery is hosting the painting and ceramics exhibition titled ‘Madness: Beyond the Boundaries’ by Işıl Dural and Saynur Bilginer.

The exhibition features 24 ceramic sculptures and 44 works created using different techniques such as oil painting, charcoal, and pastels.

Artist Işıl Dural, in a statement about her works, said, ‘Minds that go beyond the boundaries that society considers ‘normal’ hold the sharpest expressions of courage, freedom, and rebellion. Madness is not just a disease; on the contrary, it is a wisdom that breaks molds, a freedom that resists oppression, and a form of courage that challenges rules. Mad people are those who see the unseen, hear the unheard, and speak the unsaid. The works in the exhibition are traces of a timeless and placeless journey. Perhaps the greatest madness is being ‘normal’ itself…’

Ceramic artist Saynur Bilginer described the creation process of her works as follows: ‘The process that gave life to this series began with the intense relationship I developed with the material. The balance between the flexibility and resistance of clay led me to search for new forms of expression. During the modeling process, human forms were distorted and reshaped. Sometimes they smiled, sometimes they questioned. The facial expressions of the sculptures emerged as reflections of subconscious emotions. While a strong visual narrative formed between the pieces, humor and irony were felt in every detail. These works, located at the intersection of sculpture and ceramics, demonstrate that form and story can meet in perfect harmony.
