The ‘Van Blue City’ project, which the Metropolitan Municipality offers a great opportunity to those who want to own a house, is being implemented step by step. The project area, which has been worked on for approximately 2 years and whose zoning plan, ground studies and all legal processes have been completed, has been made suitable for construction. In the project area, which overlooks the Ring Road, infrastructure works have also started.
Speaking at the Press Conference, Van Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Mehmet Fatih Çelikel stated that the project, which was implemented with the slogan ‘Van Blue City, New Life Begins’, is the largest urban development project in the region, and said that a 4,000-decare area overlooking the Ring Road, 40 percent social reinforcement and earthquake-proof. He said durable areas are preferred.
Mehmet Fatih Çelikel, Secretary General, who started his speech with the wishes of God’s mercy to those who lost their lives in the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş and a speedy recovery to our injured citizens, said, “Recently, unfortunately, we have been faced with great earthquake disasters. We are trying to overcome these disasters with the cooperation of the state and the nation. As Van Metropolitan Municipality, we have been trying to do our part in this process and we continue to be. As you know, our city is located in the earthquake zone. We are one of the provinces that know and are aware of the earthquake reality. In this direction, we, as Van Metropolitan Municipality, have developed the urban transformation and development project in our Edremit district in order to create safer and more livable areas in our province. Our project, which we call the ‘Van Blue City’ project, takes its name from the meeting of the unique blue of our Lake Van and the blue of the sky.
“WE PREFERED THE STRONGEST REGION IN TERMS OF GROUND STRENGTH OF OUR CITY”
Emphasizing that the project was implemented on an area where there was no construction or settlement before, Secretary General Mehmet Fatih Çelikel said, “Why did we choose this area? This is one of the strongest regions of our province in terms of ground stability in geological surveys and investigations. This was one of the important reasons why we chose this area in particular. While planning a city here, we primarily focused on life safety and wanted to implement our project on a solid ground. We are talking about an area of 4 thousand acres in total here. Of this, approximately 1,300 acres belong to our Metropolitan Municipality. We have other social areas, TOKİ and private property are available. We will not allow a multi-storey building in the city to be established in this area, and we foresee a structuring with a maximum of 2 floors in our planning.” used the phrases.

Stating that the construction here is in accordance with the old construction core of the city and that they foresee detached buildings with gardens, Secretary General Çelikel continued his words as follows;
“We think that our old garden buildings in the center of Van are in line with the essence of this construction. It is a form of construction that comes from the past of our city and is compatible with its essence. Therefore, we want to be in a city planning where there are no multi-storey buildings. We see our project as valuable in this process. Because after the earthquake, we saw that many of our citizens were looking for a place for themselves. We have received requests as well. We believe that these demands will be met in our project. The fact that our project is overlooked by the Ring Road at the point where it is located means that transportation will be very fast and easy. Considering all these, he thinks that our project is important for our city. We wish good luck to our city in advance.”
INFRASTRUCTURE WORKS IN THE PROJECT AREA ALSO STARTED
Stating that the infrastructure works have also started in the project area, Çelikel concluded his words as follows: “Our vehicles have started their work on the road in areas in the form of an island parcel. VASKİ started to work on infrastructure here. Hopefully, we want to create a city here in a short time with the trust of our people. Another important point is this. We actually held an introductory meeting after we finished all the work and legal processes related to our project area. We left the launch job for later. Therefore, all processes related to our project area have been completed and made suitable for the settlement of our citizens. Our friends worked on this project for a period of about 2 years and brought the business to this point.”
