The School Sports Chess Team Tournament, organized in cooperation with Osmangazi Municipality and Bursa Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, started. Osmangazi Mayor Mustafa Dundar made the opening move of the tournament.

Students showed great interest in the School Sports Chess Team Tournament held at Ertuğrul Sağlam Sports Facilities. A total of 768 students from 139 schools, 41 in the junior category, 35 in the stars category, and 63 in the youth category, registered for the tournament, in which students from secondary and high school schools took part. Students will compete as a team in the 3-day tournament. At the end of the ranking to be made according to points and average, trophies and medals will be presented to the teams ranked in the girls and general categories. Schools ranking high in the stars and youth categories in the Bursa provincial competition will be entitled to participate in the regional tournament. The winners of the regional competition will then participate in the Turkish finals. In the School Sports Chess Team Tournament, the matches in the junior category will be held in May. More than 1000 students are expected to enroll in the minors category, where registration continues.

Osmangazi Mayor Mustafa Dundar, who made the opening move of the tournament, said, “Chess is an important activity that will contribute to the intelligence development of our students. Congratulations to all the students and their families who participated in the tournament. I wish you success,” he said.
