Sun d’Or Airlines, a subsidiary of the Israeli El Al Group, announced that its flights to Turkey have resumed. The first flight of Sun d’Or, which will operate four weekly flights to Istanbul on Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday, took place on Thursday, March 30.
Sun d’Or, one of the affiliates of the El Al Group, sent the aid plane, which took off in cooperation with the Union and Salvation Organization, to the region affected by the earthquake; The company announced that its flights to Turkey have resumed after a 15-year hiatus.
One of Israel’s leading airline companies, Sun d’Or, organized its first flight to IGA Istanbul Airport on Thursday, March 30. A welcome event was held at the D8 gate of the IGA Istanbul Airport International Arrivals Floor. Sun d’Or Airlines CEO Gal Gershon attended the ceremony, while CEO Consultant Melih Mengü represented IGA Istanbul Airport at the ceremony.
Sun d’Or Airlines will operate four flights a week to IGA Istanbul Airport, on Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday. With tickets sold for $199, flights will take place on Sun d’Or/El Al’s planes with Business Class seats. These seats will be offered as a preferential seat service for an additional fee to passengers who purchase tickets in economy class.
In his speech at the ceremony, İGA Istanbul Airport CEO Advisor Melih Mengü said, “First of all, we would like to thank Sun d’Or airlines for sending a special aid flight to the earthquake-affected regions. As IGA Istanbul Airport, we are very happy and excited to have opened our airport to an Israeli airline after a very long time. At this point, Sun d’Or’s cooperation with IGA Istanbul Airport is a great opportunity to strengthen the relations between Turkey and Israel.”
Sun d’Or CEO, Gal Gershon, said in a statement, “Today, after a 15-year hiatus, we are inaugurating a line that we do not operate in the region with Istanbul. We also welcome the strengthening of relations between the two countries. We will continue to develop our relations in terms of both humanitarian and touristic purposes. Istanbul has always been a favorite destination for Israeli people and we plan to launch flights to additional resorts in Turkey in the future.”
