ARTIST STEFAN RAGIMOV BIOGRAPHY:
Barcelona-based photographer and visual artist Stefan Ragimov discovered his intense dedication to the beauty of art at an early age. Born in Baku, USSR, Ragimov grew up between Moscow and Istanbul, drawing inspiration from every detail offered by these historical and artistic cities. He completed his undergraduate studies at Budapest Metropolitan University, Faculty of Visual Arts. In 2012, Stefan’s focus shifted towards photography, especially with the advancement of digital technology and post-production techniques. While dividing his time between Melbourne, Budapest, and Buenos Aires, he experimented with various forms of visual art to express his ideas, desires, political stance, and areas of interest. Ragimov’s art is primarily focused on exploring themes such as identity, cultural taboos, sexuality, social/political unrest in the Middle East, and the former Soviet geography. His portfolio is filled with successful solo exhibitions and prestigious events such as Not Human Art Week. In 2022, his works were exhibited at Art Nordic 2022, the largest art fair in Northern Europe. Stefan Ragimov creates thought-provoking images that question societal norms by utilizing digital techniques and post-production skills to push the boundaries of artistic expression. While drawing from his own personal experiences, he transcends the confines of the patriarchal society in which he grew up by presenting powerful rebellious imagery.
