The Sema Boyancı Exhibition Opens at Kethüda Hüsrev Hamamı.
Beşiktaş Municipality’s Kethüda Hüsrev Hamamı is hosting the Sema Boyancı Solo Exhibition. The exhibition opening took place on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, between 17:00 and 19:00.

Curated by Nilüfer Eriş, the founder of Corvo Art Gallery, the exhibition brings together 65 artworks by the artist created in different periods and with various techniques. The majority of the exhibition consists of canvas and glass oil paintings on the theme of “Aesthetics & Instinct,” which was first displayed at Kuzguncuk-İMOGA ART SPACE in 2019. Additionally, engravings from different periods and mixed media works on the recent theme of “MIGRATION” garnered great acclaim from the art audience.

The artist Boyancı shared her thoughts on the solo exhibition:
“The ‘Aesthetics & Instinct’ paintings emerged from the motto ‘Beauty will save the world.’ I believe that every human being, by the nature of being human, is born with a sense and pursuit of beauty. As time goes by, the environment one lives in, the education received, and the accumulation of spiritual and visual experiences either destroy or enhance one’s aesthetic perception. Integrating this search for beauty with one’s identity, one manifests it through their actions in life.

A few years ago, thousands of innocent people, driven by the instinct to survive, fled from the bombs raining down on Middle Eastern countries and embarked on perilous journeys to European countries. It was the tragedy of this century. From the safety of our homes, we watched this immense tragedy unfold for months, deeply affected. The corpses of babies, women, fathers, and children who lost their lives in the depths of the Aegean Sea washed up on our shores, along with their paths, pacifiers, and clothes. A portion of my exhibition consists of these tragic ‘MIGRATION’ themed paintings,” she expressed.

The Sema Boyancı Solo Exhibition can be visited at Beşiktaş Municipality’s Kethüda Hüsrev Hamamı until June 25, 2023.
