Izmir Metropolitan Municipality signed an initiative to keep the names of the two martyrs of Izmir alive on the streets of the city on March 18 Martyrs’ Day. The names of Martyr Private Serhat Aslan and Martyr Private Hüseyin Arısoy were given to the overpass and bridge in Konak.
In line with the works initiated by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Martyrs’ Relatives and Veterans Branch Directorate, the Metropolitan Municipality Council took a decision to keep the names of the two martyrs of the city alive. According to the decision implemented on March 18 Martyrs’ Day, the name of Private Serhat Aslan, who was martyred on May 31, 2010 as a result of a terrorist attack in the Iskenderun district of Hatay, was given to the pedestrian overpass at the entrance of Dere Street on Konak İnönü Caddesi. .
The name of Private Hüseyin Arısoy, who was martyred as a result of the bomb attack on 29 August 2008 in the Yağhaneler district of İzmir, during the passage of a military vehicle, will be kept alive on the bridge 100 meters from the point where he was martyred.
