Guest of ‘Reading a World’ Talks: Merve Çağlar
Kale Design and Art Center, which continues to open up space for interdisciplinary production and meetings, conveys all dimensions of sustainability through books with a holistic perspective in its new project. Within the scope of the ‘Reading a World’ Talks project implemented in cooperation with the Sustainability Steps Association (SADE), groundbreaking writers look at sustainability from a different perspective.
Believing in the power of knowledge, the permanence of writing and the timelessness of the smell of books, the Kale Design and Art Center, which consists of a special collection focused on design-art-sustainable architecture, was inspired by the books in the library of the Kale Design and Art Center, within the scope of the ‘Reading a World’ project, which is competent in its field and interprets the world with different eyes. A series of interviews are held with the narrators.
Focusing on Sustainable Development Goals, the ‘Reading a World’ Talks, which examine current issues in depth with people from different disciplines, look at sustainability from different perspectives through books.
Vuslat Foundation Director Merve Çağlar, who is the guest of the fourth interview in the series, emphasizes the importance of being a better listener. Underlining the difference between hearing and listening, Çağlar also believes that the skill of listening intently will establish much healthier relationships in our lives.
Briefly describing the story of the book Klara and the Sun, authored by Kazuo Ishiguro, whom he has been most influenced by recently, Çağlar emphasizes that with the book, he also learned to look at the world from a different perspective.
