Author Dr. Ferhat Jak İçöz talks about consumption relationships in an enjoyable conversation…
Kale Design and Art Center, which continues to open up space for interdisciplinary production and meetings, is conveying all dimensions of sustainability through books in its new project with a holistic perspective. In the ‘Reading the World’ Talks project, implemented in collaboration with the Sustainability Steps Association (SADE), groundbreaking writers offer different perspectives on sustainability.
Created with a belief in the power of knowledge, the permanence of writing, and the timelessness of the scent of books, the ‘Reading the World’ project, inspired by books in the library of Kale Design and Art Center, consisting of a special collection dominated by design-art-sustainable architecture, organizes a series of talks with competent narrators who interpret the world from different perspectives.
The ‘Reading the World’ Talks, which deeply analyze current topics from different disciplines with individuals, focused on the Sustainable Development Goals, look at sustainability from different windows through books.
Guest of the last talk in the series, writer Dr. Ferhat Jak İçöz, explains with examples how consumption relationships affect our mental health. İçöz, who stands out with his studies in the field of psychotherapy for more than ten years, is also the author of the book ‘The Unbearable Lightness of Being Yourself,’ which he blends with his accumulated knowledge.
Emphasizing that the only thing we can do to live our lives more fulfilling in today’s order is to know ourselves, Dr. Ferhat Jak İçöz, who also includes many anecdotes from his book, highlights the importance of questioning ourselves and our consumption habits for sustainable mental health. Jak also touches on the voids that excess consumption will create within us.
