With the increasing popularity of hip hop music in Turkey, the number of young talents producing this type of music continues to increase. However, there are many talents that have not yet been discovered or announced. This is where the “You Watch First” project comes into play.

This project is prepared with a 360-degree perspective covering all aspects of the hip hop world and aims to support, reveal and discover young talents. The music videos of the songs of the names selected among the participants who applied within the scope of the project are shot with iPhone by the directors they want to work with and are on the Apple Music Playlist.

However, the project, which is not content with only music videos, aims to support young talents in the production process of songs. In this context, the spatial sound production, mixing and mastering processes to be performed with the producers/beatmakers of the selected songs will be carried out in Turkey’s first Spatial Sound and Hip Hop Workshop.

Spatial sound can be defined as a technology that enables the three-dimensional perception of different instruments and sounds in music. The use of this technology in hip hop music is considered a pioneering step in Turkey. Spatial sound production, mixing & mastering operations will be carried out by professional names in the workshop created by Yalçın Birol and İTÜ MİAM team.

The songs that will be on the Apple Music Playlist will also meet with the audience on the You First Listen Virgin Radio program within the same week. It is aimed to promote the project on different platforms in this way and to further increase the presence of young talents in the music world.

The coming together of Turkey’s first Spatial Sound and Hip Hop Workshop with the project “You Watch First” allows both to increase the production quality of hip hop music and to get young talents more involved in the music industry. It is thought that the project will contribute to the future of hip hop music in Turkey.
