President Büyükakın gave information about the PROBES project, which was implemented to provide individuals with autism with appropriate nutrition habits.
Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality continues to be a role model for Turkey with its efforts to facilitate the lives of disadvantaged individuals with its understanding of social municipality and to ensure that they benefit equally from all opportunities. Metropolitan, which does not leave any of its citizens alone and helpless with its Happy City ideal, serves to remove the obstacles in front of the lives of individuals with special needs. In this context, Metropolitan, which implemented the PROBES project in 2021 in order to provide appropriate nutritional habits to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Autism), stands by individuals with autism with all its health and social services.
EXAMPLE PROJECT OF TURKEY
Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın, who has always been appreciated for his sensitive approach towards the disabled, shared the latest point of the PROBES project on April 2, Autism Awareness Day. President Büyükakın said, “We signed a Probiotic Product Development, Production and Nutrition Consultancy with the University of Health Sciences for individuals with autism. After the protocol, we identified individuals with autism diagnosis through R&D and field studies with our university. By conducting interviews with the families we determined, we ensured that probiotic products, produced and evaluated by our university, reach our families. In the first 6 months, nearly a hundred children with autism benefited from our project, which is set as an example to Turkey, in two groups. We have delivered hundreds of probiotic products to our families free of charge, and we will continue to do so.”

Stating that the work continues for the 3rd group of individuals with autism, President Büyükakın said, “When the process is completed, we will provide the transportation of products to families free of charge. Our project develops itself every day. Field studies and evaluations continue within the scope of university cooperation. Everything is for our children with autism to live a happy life. We will always be with them with our love and support.”
WHAT IS PROBE?
PROBES, a Probiotic Product Development, Production and Nutrition Consultancy Project, is a project planned to provide appropriate nutritional habits to people with Autism Spectrum Disorder residing in Kocaeli. Within the scope of the project carried out in partnership with Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and Health Sciences University, R&D studies are carried out for probiotic products, while individuals with autism are identified with the field work carried out by the Metropolitan Municipality.
