The 100th anniversary of the founding of the Turkish Republic is being celebrated with enthusiasm through the “Unity and Future” 100th Year Exhibition, a collaborative project by Polat Holding and BASE. The exhibition was inaugurated with a grand gala at Piyalepaşa Çarşı on October 26. The exhibition will be open to art enthusiasts until November 12 at Piyalepaşa Çarşı, Istanbul’s new art and gastronomy destination.
The opening of the exhibition, hosted by Polat Holding Chairman of the Board Adnan Polat, was attended by the Mayor of Beyoğlu, Haydar Ali Yıldız, as well as leading figures from the world of art and business. During the opening, Beyoğlu Mayor Haydar Ali Yıldız highlighted the significance of art and artists in the context of the Republic and elaborated on the importance of Beyoğlu in the struggle for independence.
Addressing the guests at the event, Adnan Polat, Chairman of the Board of Polat Holding, said, “Today, we welcome you to Piyalepaşa, a place with a 500-year history, famous for its artistic and architectural heritage. At Polat, we have integrated art into the heart of our business in line with the artistic infrastructure of Piyalepaşa Çarşı. Our collaboration with BASE Istanbul, which brought us all together today, carries a special meaning for us. Today, we are gathered to celebrate the Republic, which has placed art at the center of civilization for a whole century, and to remember our great leader, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who valued art and artists immensely.”
The exhibition, consisting of 14 sculptures and installations suitable for open spaces, was carefully selected by a jury comprising prominent figures in the art world, such as Oktay Duran (ArtON, Doğançay Museum, and Contemporary Istanbul Advisory Board), Dursun Gündoğdu (art dealer, DG Art Project), Elif Jalili (painter and sculptor), Erdil Yaşaroğlu (cartoonist and sculptor), and Moiz Zilberman (businessman and collector, founder of Gallery Zilberman). The “Unity and Future” 100th Year Exhibition, featuring these selected works, can be viewed at Piyalepaşa Çarşı until November 12.
The exhibition includes works by various artists, including Ercan Yılmaz’s “100th Year Enthusiasm,” Rojbin Yolcu’s “Utopian Will,” Beyzanur Soyer’s “Recognize Me from My Shadow,” Aslan Nayeb’s “Us,” Nurcan Kır’s untitled work, Burcu Günay’s “Table,” R. Nur Özel’s “Vertebra/Spine,” Rabia Şeremetli’s “This World Doesn’t Hang from an Ox’s Horns; It Rests on Your Hands,” Saltık Doğa Özsar’s “Payidar,” Eda Çiftçi’s “Birds of Freedom,” Şule Yılmaz’s untitled work, Fatoş Dikenova’s “Cumhur,” İlyas Arapoğlu’s “Hope,” Celal Yunus Emre Avcı’s “Cemetery Willow Icon,” and Mert Ege Köse’s monumental sculpture.
