Osmangazi Municipality continues to work in regions where the disaster of the century has been experienced. Osmangazi Mayor Mustafa Dündar, who examined the works in the earthquake area on site, stated that besides the prefabricated city of 100 houses in İslahiye, cleaning, spraying and damage assessment works and soup kitchen services continue uninterruptedly at different points.
Osmangazi Municipality, which took action after the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes that stifled Turkey, is fighting a great struggle in the earthquake zone with all its means. Osmangazi Municipality, which sent most of its vehicles and many of its personnel, as well as the search and rescue team, to the provinces affected by the earthquake, also sent garbage trucks and cleaning vehicles to the earthquake area to be used in debris removal works. Osmangazi Mayor Mustafa Dündar, stated that the regions they concentrated on were İslahiye, Antakya and Samandağ, and said that they established a prefabricated neighborhood on an area of 15 thousand square meters in İslahiye.
Stating that the disaster of the century affected approximately 14 million citizens in 11 provinces, Mayor Dündar said, “The morning of the earthquake, our teammates came to the region as a search and rescue team of 38 people as of 8 am. With the guidance of AFAD in different cities, more than 440 of our friends in different regions served here with our more than 100 vehicles. The regions we are currently focused on are İslahiye, Antakya and Samandağ districts. In Islahiye and Antakya, we offer hot meals to 4 thousand people daily. In Samandag, we have medicine and cleaning activities,” he said.
Stating that they established a prefabricated neighborhood in İslahiye, Mayor Dündar said, “We are establishing a neighborhood of 100 houses on an area of 15 thousand square meters. In this neighborhood, we are creating a mosque, school, playground, nation’s cafe and a computer class that includes 6 computers. In addition, infrastructure works, transformer, sewerage, waste water expenses are all done by our municipality. In this neighborhood, wifi, satellite dishes, everything is available. Sink, kitchen, living room, bathroom, toilet as well as refrigerator, washing machine and seats will be allocated in our residences. We are planning to deliver the new houses after the holiday.” he said.
President Dündar, who examined the work of the prefabricated houses in İslahiye and received information from the officials, later went to Antakya and visited the cleaning, spraying and field teams working in this region. Dundar, who came together with the earthquake victims as part of his contacts in the earthquake area, took a close interest in the children and made them happy with various gifts.
