DLSS Frame Generation is available to all game developers at the Game Developers Conference (GDC 23), which will take place in San Francisco from March 20-24! Attracting attention with its Neural Graphics games, NVIDIA is announcing the expanded game list and new developer plug-ins with NVIDIA DLSS 3 support at the conference.
This year, NVIDIA attracts attention with its Neural Graphics games at the Game Developers Conference – GDC 23 event, which is eagerly awaited by both developers and gamers from all over the world. NVIDIA is announcing the DLSS 3 Frame Generation Unreal Engine plug-in, the latest version of its artificial intelligence-powered Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology.
Matt Wuebbling, vice president of global GeForce marketing at NVIDIA, which accelerates the revolution in Neural Graphics games, states that Neural graphics have revolutionized games since the launch of NVIDIA DLSS. Wuebbling also states that PC games like Diablo, Forza Horizon, and Bethesda’s new Redfall take image quality to the next level with stunning graphics when using DLSS.
Neural graphics in computer games
The latest version of NVIDIA’s artificial intelligence-powered Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology is supported in a variety of blockbuster games and series. It is also integrated into Unreal Engine, one of the world’s most popular game engines. NVIDIA is publicly releasing the DLSS 3 Frame Generation plug-in to make it even easier for developers to adopt the technology.
Since its launch in 2018, NVIDIA DLSS has started the neural graphics revolution in PC gaming. Neural graphics intertwine AI and graphics to create an accelerated pipeline that constantly learns and evolves. Rather than rendering each pixel in a frame individually, DLSS uses artificial intelligence and GeForce RTX™ tensor cores to regenerate the rest of the pixels later, allowing the game to render 1/8th of its pixels. This results in sharp, high-quality images that rival native resolution while dramatically increasing frame rates.
DLSS 3 Performance in Diablo IV, Forza Horizon 5, Redfall
To date, over 270 games and applications have chosen NVIDIA DLSS as an artificial intelligence-supported performance accelerator. The latest version of the technology, DLSS 3 is available in 28 games released and appears to be adopted 7 times faster than DLSS 2 in the first six months of their respective launches.
Among the highly anticipated games to be added to the DLSS list is Forza Horizon 5, which has been named the best open world racing game of all time by various media outlets and currently holds the highest score among all racing games tracked by OpenCritic. Forza Horizon 5, which already has ray tracing support, will also receive the DLSS 3 update on March 28.
Developed by Arkane Austin, the award-winning team that created Prey and Dishonored, Bethesda’s highly anticipated open-world, co-op first-person shooter Redfall will be released on May 2 with DLSS 3 support. In addition, Diablo IV, the last game of Diablo series, one of the most important action role-playing games in the game world, will be released on June 6 with DLSS 3 support. “For Blizzard, supporting the best performance in Diablo IV is our top priority,” says Michael Bukowski, Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo IV technology director. “We are very excited about the high frame rates to be achieved in Diablo IV, powered by NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series hardware and DLSS 3 technology.”
Other PC games that announced NVIDIA DLSS support at GDC include Deceive Inc., Gripper, SMALLAND: Survive the Wilds and THE FINALS. It can view the full list of 270 games and applications that support DLSS via the link.
DLSS Frame Generation Becomes Public at GDC!
NVIDIA will make DLSS Frame Generation plugins publicly available during GDC, allowing even more developers to integrate framerate boosting technology into their games and apps.
DLSS Frame Generation will be available through NVIDIA Streamline, an open-source, cross-vendor framework that simplifies the integration of super-resolution technologies into 3D games and applications.
DLSS technology is improving day by day as NVIDIA’s artificial intelligence supercomputer constantly learns. The public release will include the latest DLSS enhancements made earlier this year, including:
DLSS Frame Generation will make better use of game engine data, improving UI stability and image quality during fast motion.
DLSS Super Resolution will enhance Ultra Performance mode with finer detail stability and overall better image quality.
DLAA will improve image quality, reduce ghosting, and improve edge smoothness in high-contrast scenes.
Adding DLSS 3 to Unreal Engine Games Made Easy
NVIDIA and Epic Games recently announced the integration of NVIDIA DLSS 3 into the popular Unreal Engine (UE) game engine. Unreal Engine is an advanced, open-source content creation tool that gives game developers and creators the freedom to deliver cutting-edge real-time immersive content, interactive experiences, and immersive virtual worlds. The DLSS 3 add-on will be released in UE 5.2 and will make it easy for any developer to speed up game or application performance.
Nick Penwarden, Epic Games’ vice president of engineering, said, “NVIDIA DLSS 3 delivers truly impressive frame rendering technology. “The Unreal Engine 5.2 plug-in will provide game developers with a great opportunity to improve the quality and performance of their games.”
