Mehmet Kına, a mosaic artist from Hatay, from the Ministry of Culture: “My father used to drop me off at the museum when he had business in the bazaar.”
Born and raised in a village in Hatay, Mehmet Kına said, “Imagine a five-year-old child in a museum. My father has archaeologist friends, the director, they all love me very much. I was walking around in the museum.” and told about those days. The artist, who was influenced by the mosaic art he met at the Hatay Mosaic Museum and turned to this art, said, “There is definitely a master who makes mosaics in Antakya.” He said that he started to discover these masters at high school age.

“I have a poetic point of view.”
Mehmet Kına, who graduated from the Department of Philosophy and worked as the editor-in-chief of a literary magazine for a while, stated that he has a poetic perspective and still follows literary publications. Stating that he is friends with many poets and writers, Kına said that he participates in most of the literary interviews.


New Exhibition with the Concept of “Goats” is Coming
Mehmet Kına, our Hataylı mosaic artist Mehmet Kına, who draws attention to the difficulty of mosaic art by saying, “I can collect 20-25 pieces of work every 1-2 years.” Mehmet Kına, who is also an instructor in the field of mosaic, stated that the exhibition he opened last year was on living Istanbul and this year he realized works on goats, and also gave the good news of his new personal exhibition, which is expected to be opened this year.

“It is a matter of reaching a word that is accessible to everyone.”
Referring to the social and cultural problems related to the public’s access to art, the artist said, “We cannot reach that word.”
