Konak Municipality Council accepted the 2022 Audit Commission report at its April meeting and chose the committee and specialization committees. Mayor Batur, who gave the message that Konak Municipality, which made an investment of 77 million TL last year, will continue its works without slowing down, also conveyed the work they have done for an earthquake resistant Konak in the opening of the parliament.
Mayor Batur said, “As the administrators of a city in an earthquake zone, we need to take precautions. As Konak Municipality, we continue to work with our relevant technical colleagues on what it can do for earthquake resistant cities, for rescue efforts, and for post-disaster aid.”
Konak Municipality Council held its first meeting in April at Selahattin Akçiçek Cultural Center. In the session under the management of Konak Mayor Abdül Batur, members of the executive committee and expert commissions were elected, and the Audit Commission report for 2022 was evaluated. In the report, it was announced that Konak Municipality has more than 66 million money in its account and 77 million 374 TL was spent on investments in 2022. Mayor Batur gave information about the works of Konak Municipality before the Assembly session and the works that Konak Municipality will do in the next period, especially after the earthquakes. The meeting was followed by CHP Konak District Chairman Akın Küçükoğulları, Ak Party Deputy Chairman for Local Administrations Taner Deniz and Konak Municipality Youth Assembly, which completed the elections for the new term president and commission last week.
Work continues at full speed for an earthquake resistant Mansion
Konak Mayor Abdül Batur said that the damage caused by the Kahramanmaraş earthquake in that region, the loss of more than 50 thousand citizens and the great pain experienced should not be forgotten. Mayor Batur, who gave information about the work they have done to create an earthquake-resistant city as Konak Municipality, said, “We, too, need to take precautions, especially as the managers of a city in an earthquake zone. As Konak Municipality, we continue to work with our relevant technical friends under the leadership of our Civil Defense Directorate on what to do for earthquake resistant cities, for rescue efforts, and for post-disaster aid. At the meeting we held with AKUT last week, it was decided to train our volunteer staff. We have also started work on neighborhood disaster volunteers,” he said.
A truck is being prepared to serve as a dining hall and kitchen.
President Batur also announced that they have purchased a truck that will serve as a modern mobile kitchen and dining hall, and said:
“We bought a new truck. We will have a truck that will serve food in a modern way and have the capacity to cook for approximately 3 thousand people. The interior is currently being designed. We are also reviewing the organization chart of the municipality. We are working on the use of existing vehicles and the vehicles to be purchased.”
Iftar tables in the earthquake zone
Stating that they brought the iftar table tradition of Konak Municipality to the earthquake zone this year, Mayor Batur said, “We continue to serve in our tent city of 120 tents in Namık Kemal District within the borders of Dulkadiroğlu Municipality in Kahramanmaraş. We carried the iftar tables to our tent city. Our iftar table is set every day,” he said.
Beştepeler social facility is ready
Noting that the Beştepeler Social Facility, which will meet the needs of the Beştepeler region, has been completed, Mayor Batur stated that they will open it at the end of the month and said, “Our Beştepeler social facility area has been completed. It was a quality study that would solve the problems of the neighborhoods in the Beştepeler region. I would like to thank our friends and members of parliament for their efforts,” he said.
The final stage in the tender for the service building
Başak Batur, who gave information about the latest status of the tender held for the construction of the new service building of Konak Municipality, noted that 15 companies participated in the tender, and 13 of these companies were given qualification certificates. Chairman Batur said that the bids will be collected this week and the tender is planned to be completed next week.
Investments continue
After the opening speech, the 2022 Audit Commission report was read. It has been announced that Konak Municipality, which has no debt, has more than 66 million in its account, and 77 million 374 TL has been spent on investments in 2022. It was emphasized that an investment of 28 thousand 375 TL is currently underway. According to the Municipality’s 2022 Audit Commission report, it was reported that expenditures, payments and registrations were made in accordance with the law, regularly and on time. In the parliamentary session, the council and specialized commissions were also elected.
