“36th Kocaeli City Festivities” organized by Kocaeli Governorship, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, and Kocaeli City Council received great interest.
The traditional “Kocaeli City Festivities” organized by Kocaeli Governorship, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, and Kocaeli City Council, and this year being the 36th, took place at the Kocaeli Congress Center on the first day of Eid al-Fitr. Speaking at the event, President Büyükakın said, “For years, we have been able to come together for brotherhood, leaving aside our separate colors and differences. Our festivities have become a tradition for our city.”

The traditional “Kocaeli City Festivities,” organized by Kocaeli Governorship, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, and Kocaeli City Council and being held for the 36th time this year, took place at the Kocaeli Congress Center on the first day of Eid al-Fitr. The event was attended by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın, Deputy Governor Salih Bıçak, Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and CHP Kocaeli MP Haydar Akar, former Health Minister Kazım Dinç, AK Party Kocaeli MPs İlyas Şeker, Mehmet Akif Yılmaz, Radiye Sezer Katırcıoğlu, MHP Kocaeli MP Saffet Sancaklı, Garrison Commander Rear Admiral Bülent Turan, former Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor İbrahim Karaosmanoğlu, Provincial Political Party Chairs, Political Party MP candidates, District Mayors, Chamber Presidents, NGO representatives, and numerous citizens.
“WE ARE CELEBRATING A SAD HOLIDAY”
Ali Korkmaz, the president of the city council, who gave the welcome speech, said, “Welcome to our 36th Kent Festivities. I convey the greetings of our Governor, who is serving in the region due to the earthquake that we experienced as a country and which affected 11 of our cities. Eid is a special day. As a country, we are celebrating a sad holiday. We are grieving the earthquake that we experienced on February 6th. I offer my condolences to the citizens who lost their lives and say ‘Get well soon’ to our injured. I thank all the teams, especially our Governor and Metropolitan Mayor, who are serving in the region and making our city proud.”
“We Have Made It a Tradition to Celebrate the Bayram Together in Our City”
Dr. Tahir Büyükakın, the Mayor of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, stated that “It has become a tradition in Kocaeli. For years, we have been able to come together for peace, tranquility, and brotherhood, leaving aside our differences and diverse backgrounds. I thank everyone who supports this. The greatest success belongs to the Kocaeli City Council. I thank everyone, especially the President of the Kocaeli City Council. May Allah keep our unity and togetherness always. Everyone comes here voluntarily. I owe thanks to every fellow citizen who comes here. We are here today. Tomorrow, I will be in Hatay. We are experiencing a somber bayram due to the earthquake we had. We went through this pain in 1999, and Turkey was with us. Today, we are with Hatay.”
“May the Bayram Bring Goodness to Our Country”
Salih Bıçak, the Deputy Governor of Kocaeli, who spoke at the bayramlaşma program, said, “I wish that our Eid al-Fitr, which we experienced after a great disaster, brings goodness to our country. I congratulate the citizens who came to our bayramlaşma program for their bayram.”
TRADITIONAL MEMORABLE PHOTOGRAPH
Following the speeches, the City Bayramlaşma was held. Protocol members accepted the citizens’ greetings. Kocaeli’s regional specialty, mancarlı pide, was served to participants in the area. After the bayramlaşma, a traditional memorable photograph was taken.
