Arter’s adult workshops focusing on the first special collection exhibition titled “Imagine You’re Absent in April” will be conducted under the direction of Deniz Kulaksızoğlu. The “Observing – Seeing” workshop, which addresses the themes of observation and vision—one of the subjects focused on in the exhibition—will take place on Saturday, April 6th. The “Self-Portrait Workshop,” which delves into the tradition of self-portraiture, another focal point of the exhibition, will be held on Saturday, April 27th, in Arter’s Workshop space. Tickets for the adult workshops can be obtained from the Information and Ticket Counter located on the ground floor of Arter or via Biletix.
The adult workshops, inviting participants to work with various production methods and materials, are organized within the scope of the Arter Learning Program, aiming for art enthusiasts of all ages to experience creative processes. Shaped based on Arter’s current exhibitions, the workshops aim to enable participants to explore their own expressive language through art, and to investigate the relationships between form and content.
The “Observing – Seeing” workshop, led by Deniz Kulaksızoğlu, will take place on Saturday, April 6th, 2024, at 14:00 in Arter’s Workshop space. The workshop addresses the themes of observation and vision—one of the subjects focused on in Arter’s first special collection exhibition, “Imagine You’re Absent.” Participants will design a box in which they can place drawings, writings, sculptures, or objects that they have not fully revealed to the outside world, keeping them hidden or private. They will be able to choose to reveal as much of these items as they wish. Participants can either create the object they want to place in the box during the workshop or use an object they have brought with them.
The “Self-Portrait Workshop,” led by Deniz Kulaksızoğlu, will take place on Saturday, April 27th, 2024, at 14:00 in the Workshop. This workshop addresses another subject focused on in the “Imagine You’re Absent” exhibition, which is the tradition of self-portraiture. Participants, first visiting the self-portrait room featured in the exhibition, will then engage in a discussion on the tradition of self-portraiture through various questions such as “Is a self-portrait merely a portrait of oneself?”, “What do faces reveal about people?”, “What is the main thing that defines a person?” or “How do we want to be defined?” Based on the self-portrait room in the exhibition and the discussions held, participants will then create their own self-portraits in the style and with the materials of their choice.
Tickets for the workshops, which have limited capacity, can be obtained from the Information and Ticket Counter located on the ground floor of Arter or via Biletix.
