Due to the earthquake disaster that occurred in our country, the disaster victim citizens who were away from their homes were hosted by Selçuklu within the scope of the “I Know My City Program” organized by Selçuklu Municipality and visited the historical and cultural sites of Konya.

All public institutions and citizens are working tirelessly to heal the wounds of the earthquake, the biggest of the last century, which affected 17 provinces. Selçuklu Municipality also showed the historical and touristic sites of Konya to the disaster victims who were hosted in the district through the “I Know My City Program”.

Starting the city tour in the morning with the “I Know My City Program”, the disaster victim guests visited the Mevlana Mausoleum, Karatay Museum, Alaaddin Mosque, Sille, and the Tropical Butterfly Garden and had a pleasant weekend. A total of 180 disaster victim citizens benefited from the program.

“We are doing our best to make our guests feel at home”

Selçuklu Mayor Ahmet Pekyatırmacı, emphasizing that they aim to heal the wounds of the earthquake and make the disaster victim citizens feel at home in Konya, said: “We continue our work wherever there is a need with the belief that we will overcome the traces of the earthquake disaster our country has experienced with unity and solidarity. The leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the opportunities provided by our state and the support of all our citizens give confidence to our entire nation in this regard. As Selçuklu Municipality, we have mobilized all our resources for our disaster victim citizens hosted in our district. We are striving to do our best to make their days more enjoyable and to help them forget their pains even a little bit. For this purpose, we showed the historical, cultural, and touristic places that are symbols of Konya with the “I Know My City Program”. We wanted to give them a pleasant weekend with the trip, which 90 guests benefited from on Saturday and 90 on Sunday, a total of 180. We will continue these activities in the future as well. We do not see our disaster victim citizens hosted in our district as guests, they are our brothers, mothers, elders, and children. I would like to reiterate that we will be by their side with the prayer that God will not let us experience such disasters again.”

The disaster victim citizens thanked Selçuklu Municipality for the trip.
