SkinCeuticals continues its projects supporting sustainability in science and life. The brand has decided to continue the ‘Adding Value Comes from Our Hands’ project, which was launched last September and includes the production of handmade bags knitted with the cimem tradition, one of the handicrafts of Anatolia that is about to be forgotten, in 2024.

The main objective of the project was to provide employment to women affected by the earthquake on February 6, 2023, to strengthen their place in society, and at the same time to add value by reviving handicrafts from Anatolian culture. SkinCeuticals collaborated with designer Aslı Filinta and Hazek Women’s Cooperative to achieve this goal.

The ‘Adding Value Comes from Our Hands’ project, carried out in collaboration with the Hatay Altınözü Olive Emeği Women’s Initiative Production and Operation Cooperative (Hazek Women’s Cooperative), offers Hatay Altınözü women the opportunity to showcase their craftsmanship skills. Within the scope of the project, the production of handmade bags referring to the cimem tradition is carried out sustainably using natural materials.

The project, which produced 4000 bags in the first period, is now in its second major production period. The targeted production number in 2024 is 6000 pieces. These bags re-enter our lives through the women of Altınözü, Hatay and contribute to a sustainable lifestyle with natural materials.

Melis Şahin, SkinCeuticals Brand Leader, expressed her confidence in the project in the following words: “In this project, we aim to provide a sustainable benefit not only in dermatology and plastic surgery clinics, but also in all areas of life. We started this project to help women discover their strength and give them hope. There is a great solidarity among our women. Their hopes and excitement have increased with this project. We have seen that we have started a transformation in this journey and that we can turn this power into a greater value.”

Leyla Ayvazoğlu, President of Hazek Women’s Cooperative, who participated in the project, shared her feelings and said, “The support for our women within the scope of this project is priceless. In addition to bag design, alternative models are also preparing to enter the production process.”

With this project, Hatay Altınözü Olive Labor and Women’s Initiative Production and Business Cooperative aims to highlight Hatay’s cultural heritage and create economic opportunities for women. Thanks to this project, the Cimem tradition is passed down through generations, young women learn this handicraft and contribute to a sustainable future.

The bags obtained from the project are offered for sale at SkinCeuticals authorized sales points and Aslı Filinta’s official website aslifilinta.com. In addition, 15ml Resveratrol B E Night Antioxidant is included in the bags given as a gift with SkinCeuticals’ antioxidant serum purchases. This project not only emphasizes the power of women, but also stands out as an important step to highlight sustainability and traditional handicrafts.
