Media monitoring agency Ajans Press, released the most talked-about news headlines in the media in February. In the research, where Ajans Press published the most news items in more than 15 thousand newspapers, magazines, TV channels and internet news sites between February 1-28, millions of news were reflected in the media in the relevant content. The earthquake disaster that affected 11 provinces and what happened after it left their mark on the month. While more than 2 million news about the earthquake were reflected in the media in February, the most talked about contents in February were as follows:

On February 6, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 occurred in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş. On the same day, another earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 occurred in Kahramanmaraş-Elbistan. While the fourth level of alarm was declared after the earthquakes, 45 thousand 89 people lost their lives in disasters that caused great destruction in 11 provinces. 528 thousand 146 people were evacuated from the earthquake zones.

On February 20, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 occurred in Defne and Samandag districts. While the buildings damaged in the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes were demolished, 6 people lost their lives and 294 people were injured in this earthquake.

Universities switched to distance education after the great earthquake disaster affecting 11 of our provinces. Citizens of earthquake victims were placed in KYK dormitories.

After the earthquakes, 78 contractors, 64 building supervisors and 11 building owners were arrested.

In order to heal the wounds of the earthquake disaster that stifled Turkey, the joint publication “Turkey One Heart” was organized. In the joint broadcast of ATV, Fox TV, Kanal D, Kanal 7, Show TV, Star TV, TRT 1 and TV8, donations of 115 billion 146 million TL were collected.

In line with the decision taken by the Istanbul Governor’s Office, 93 schools that were found to be at risk in terms of earthquakes were evacuated.

Deniz Baykal, former Chairman of the CHP and Antalya MP, passed away at the age of 84.

Ziya Şengül, one of the former captains of Fenerbahçe and the National Team, passed away.
