Europe’s leading home appliance manufacturer BSH held the groundbreaking ceremony to build its first factory in Africa in Egypt. The Egyptian factory, which will be one of the important production facilities of the Emerging Markets Region (REM) managed from Turkey, will be implemented with an investment of 50 million Euros. With the factory, which will have the latest technology and the most up-to-date sustainability standards, it is aimed to create employment for approximately one thousand people directly or indirectly.
Cairo, March 24, 2023 (BSH) – Groundbreaking ceremony for the first modern factory of BSH Home Appliances Group, the leading European home appliance manufacturer, in Egypt and Africa, Egyptian ministers, German ambassador, senior officials, heads of state institutions, lawmakers with the participation of the representatives of the business and industry world.
Production will start at the end of 2024
Rudolf Klötscher, Member of the Board of BSH Sales and Services, commented on the new factory investment, “Despite the challenging economic conditions around the world, as BSH Group, we are proud to establish our first factory in Africa and to expand our operations in African markets, which offer growth opportunities. Complementing BSH’s global production network, our Egyptian factory will be our 41st production facility globally. Production is planned to start at the end of 2024,” he said.
Half of the production will be exported
The Bakery Factory, which will be one of the important production facilities of BSH in the Emerging Markets Region (REM) managed from Turkey, will be built on an area of approximately 160,000 square meters in the City of 10 Ramadan, near Cairo. The factory, where Egyptian-made domestic stoves will be produced with German technology, will be built with an investment of approximately 50 million Euros and will create direct and indirect employment opportunities for more than a thousand people. It is aimed that half of the products produced in the factory, which will have an annual production capacity of 350 thousand by the end of 2024, will be exported to African and Middle Eastern countries.
Continuing its commitment to global sustainability in its new production facility, BSH will build the Corn Factory to meet the most up-to-date sustainability standards.
