Emirates is preparing to build an advanced training facility that will house 6 Full Flight Simulator Pods (FFS) for future Airbus A350 and Boeing 777X aircraft. The new facility of approximately 6,000 square meters is scheduled to open in March 2024.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Airline and Group, said in a statement: “This $135 million investment to build a new pilot training center will precede the delivery of Emirates’ new aircraft fleet from 2024. will ensure that he is ready to start pilot training. The building will be equipped with state-of-the-art simulators to provide pilots with the best training while using solar energy to reduce energy consumption.”
The new building will be located adjacent to the existing Emirates Training Facilities in Dubai, thus providing great integration and proximity to all other pilot training centres.
Pilot trainees will also benefit from the ability to set up and configure the cockpit environment using custom-made devices as part of the pilot training module and upload data to the Full Flight Simulator (FFS) before starting training sessions. This innovative, first-of-its-kind concept is designed to help the trainee reduce preparation time in the simulator, maintain concentration and take full advantage of the training time.
With the addition of the new building to Emirates’ existing training colleges in Dubai, the airline will have the potential to increase its pilot training capacity by 54% per year. Across the airline’s training buildings, Emirates pilots will have greater flexibility and possibilities to hone their flying skills, with 17 full flight simulator compartments capable of over 130,000 training hours per year.
In line with the planned delivery of Emirates’ first Airbus A350 aircraft, the airline’s newest training school will begin training the first batch of A350 pilots by June 2024.
In addition to modern training facilities for flight crew, the airline offers a range of world-class training and development programs for its workforce and other aviation professionals. In Dubai, these include the Emirates Flight Training Academy, the Emirates Aviation University, the Emirates Cabin Crew Training Center and numerous programs tailored to the diverse needs of their employees.
